Following the Etiquette of a True Soccer Fan

The 2010 World Cup in South Africa is coming up very quickly, and all the world is waiting in suspense. Soccer is king everywhere from Europe to Latin America, and in June and July practically the whole world will be glowing when everybody is sporting their team’s color.

One place you might not find that glimmer is the United States. Despite its efforts to become popular here in the states, soccer hasn’t seen its heyday yet.

But it is picking up steam. With the MLS spreading its border from the Atlantic to the Pacific and superstar players like David Beckham making a big scene for all to watch, we can expect to see more and more soccer as the years go by.

With more and more soccer being televised nationally, that means more and more fans will fill sports bars and dingy bachelor living rooms. This is especially true for the World Cup.

In America, the World Cup may just be a blip on America’s radar, but Viagra Jelly you can bet that thousands of die-hard soccer fans will have their eyes glued to the TV set. And because of all the hype and excitement, you just might want to get into some of that action.

If you want to become a fan, there are some rules that you have to abide by. This isn’t a casual game that you watch after you’ve seen all your favorite Seinfeld reruns. For fans, the game is life.

So there are rules of etiquette that every new fan must adhere to, so as not to be ostracized from those who live and breathe the sport. You might say that they are commandments from the soccer “bible”.

The most important thing to remember is to look the part. If all of your friends like a particular team, they are going to be sporting those team’s colors like there is no tomorrow.

It would be best for you to follow their lead. Buy a team jersey or shirt, and if you are dirt poor just find a shirt from home that is the same color as the rooted team.

You will be kicking yourself in the head if you show up at the bar or a friend’s place with the opposing team’s colors on. Even if you didn’t mean it, it will put a damper on your fun when your shirt becomes damp from everybody spilling beer on it.

The second important commandment is that you must know the rules. Now I’m not saying that you need to know the official rule handbook backwards and forwards like a textbook, but you at least need to know the basics.

You will once again embarrass yourself and annoy the other fans if you keep asking what the rules are, or why this happened, or why this player got penalized. If you have questions, just keep your mouth shut until after the game, when you can ask a trusted friend about what in the devil was going on.

The final commandment is that you don’t have to know everything off the bat. If you don’t know the player’s names, don’t worry.

Your fellow fans won’t criticize you for not knowing that. Just keep your concentration on the game and eventually you will get to know some of their names.

The next tip may be considered a commandment, but it is more of an overall tip. As I said before, to die-hards fans, the game is life.

Don’t ever barge into an invited game party and say that soccer is “just a game” if your team loses or if the game does not catch your attention. Chances are you will never get invited back, and you will be pretty Kamagra embarrassed (boy, there’s just a ton of ways to get embarrassed, isn’t there)!

If you keep to these simple rules, you will save yourself some headaches and gain the respect of your fellow soccer-heads. This will result in a much more enjoyable at your local sports bar or that awesome party that your friend is having.

Who knows, maybe you will really like it and become a die-hard fan yourself! You might just be the one that teaches the newbie down the road!
