MLB Tickets – Fantasy: Top 10 Re-Rank

With the All-Star Break behind us, let’s take a look at a midseason re-rank of the Top 10 players in fantasy baseball, listed in order.

Albert Pujols, First Base, St. Louis Cardinals: Pujols retains the top spot in the re-rankings because he’s the best combination of 2010 production and expected 2010 production, which means his second half could be monstrous. His batting average might be a bit down from his usual mark, but he’s still been a dominant fantasy player. You can count on him more than any other player in the game.

Miguel Cabrera, First Base, Detroit Tigers: Cabrera has been a force in 2010. He got his act together in the offseason and has been much more focused at the plate, resulting in Triple Crown-caliber numbers. There’s really no weakness in his fantasy game aside from speed and he could end up being the best player in fantasy this season if things go right.

Hanley Ramirez, Shortstop, Florida Marlins: Hanley drops a spot from his preseason rankings due to a slight dip in his batting average and Cabrera’s monster first half. He’s really got no weakness in the fantasy game and I would expect an uptick in homers and steals in the second half. Even if we don’t see that, he’s still an elite option given his position.

Carl Crawford, Outfield, Tampa Bay Rays: Crawford might not sell MLB tickets like the rest of the players on this list, but he’s a supremely valuable fantasy asset. The steal and run production an owner gets from Crawford is pretty much unparalleled in the fantasy game, especially when you consider that Crawford doesn’t kill you in any other categories.

Evan Longoria, Third Base, Tampa Bay Rays: Longoria is about as steady as they come from an all-around production standpoint, even at his young age. Everything we’ve come to expect of him has been there this season, plus some extra speed. His numbers will jump out at you by the end of the season.

Ryan Braun, Outfield, Milwaukee Brewers: Braun is having a bit of a down year, but he’s still been very good and, like Longoria, has provided owners with some additional speed this season. He’s definitely a candidate to go on a second half tear.

Josh Hamilton, Outfield, Texas Rangers: Hamilton has outproduced just about everyone this list, but I couldn’t rank him any higher than this due to his injury history and second half struggles in the past. He could end up being a Top 3 fantasy player by the end of the season if he maintains his pace, but there is some risk involved here.

Josh Johnson, Starting Pitcher, Florida Marlins: He’s been the model of consistency this season, which is huge in the usually up-and-down world of pitching. I don’t see any signs of him slowing down and I think he’s the best pitching option going forward this season.

David Wright, Third Base, New York Mets: Wright is having a phenomenal 2010 season now that his power has returned. He gives owners a good amount of all-around production and should continue to do so on a consistent basis.

Robinson Cano, Second Base, New York Yankees: There’s a chance that he comes back to earth a bit, but he’s capable of maintaining a high average and good power numbers in the potent No prescription cialis Yankee lineup. His position sneaks him onto this list.
