If you keep up with football news and looked closely at fantasy rankings at the start of the season, there was one player that stood out above the rest. That pick was LeSean McCoy. If you picked him for your fantasy football team, especially if you are part of a league that gives bonus points for receptions, you probably thought you had a great pick.

In 2010 – his first season as a starter – the Philadelphia Eagles Running Back led all running backs with 78 catches. Thoughts were that he would be as productive this year while working to increase his 1,080 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns.

Although their defense is chock full of new players including CB Nnamdi Asomugha, DE Jason Babin, CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, and DT Cullen Jenkins, the truth is it might take a while for these new additions to assimilate into the team and adapt to the Eagle\’s defensive system.

In taking a look at the offensive line-up: QB Michael Vick with 3,018 passing yards, 676 rushing yards, and 30 total touchdowns, receivers DeSean Jackson (1,056 receiving yards) and Jeremy Maclin (10 TDs) and you have a winning combination.

Also, kudos to the Eagles for signing up QB Vince Young and RB Ronnie Brown as stellar backups – in the event Vick and McCoy sustain injuries.

McCoy is on track in week 8 to match his stats from last year. If you drafted him to your fantasy football team, you are probably glad that you made that pick.
