Should You Try Out the Bodybuilding Programs of the Legends?

Are not the absolute best examples of workout routines those performed by legendary bodybuilding champions? Would not the programs performed by Mike Mentzer, Lou Ferrigno and Lee Haney be the ones you want to duplicate? Well, the answer to that is \”yes and no.\” You definitely will want to look at the workouts performed by these champions and those like them. However, attempts at duplicating their workouts is not all that strongly advised.

You have to keep one very important thing in mind. What works for one person might not work for another. Simply airlifting a professional bodybuilder\’s routine might not actually deliver on the results you are seeking.

No one is saying you cannot experiment with these workout programs or give them a try. Such experimentation may even be recommended when you are looking to shake up your current workout program. However, do not assume that carbon copying a pro\’s workout program will lead you to getting the exact same physique. That just is not going to happen.

Honestly, that is not how the bodybuilding in question devised his workout program either. Rather, he probably ended up with a certain workout based on his own personal and unique experiences.

When a pro crafts a particular bodybuilding workout, the workout is devised based on personal experience. In other words, all the prior workout sessions lead the bodybuilder down a particular path which necessitates the creation of a new workout program designed to arrive at the new goals the champion may have. In some instances, these workout programs are a lot like a fingerprint. That means they are highly unique to the bodybuilder that engages in the particular program.

Genetics play a role in these decisions. A bodybuilder that experiences significant natural growth in the arms and upper body but always finds his legs lacking will probably craft a bodybuilding program that puts more emphasis on the legs. He has to do this because that is where the most work is needed. If you are someone that sees easier lower body development and a lagging upper body, a workout of this nature probably would not be of much use.

And not to be cynical but just because a bodybuilding magazine says a particular professional bodybuilder uses such a workout does not always mean that that is the actual workout the bodybuilder employed. Magazines are known to fudge things a little (or a lot) which is why you need to take any workout program presented in their pages with a proverbial grain of salt.

How can you get the most out of a professional bodybuilder\’s workout programs? Basically, you can weave them into your own workouts and make the appropriate tweaks and alternations as needed. In short, you would make the workout your own by stamping your own personal touch on it. This is essentially what the bodybuilder you are studying did to arrive at his own program. You just need to do the same.
