Asparagus

Asparagus contains the plant chemical asparagine that directly affect cells and breaks down fat. It also contains another chemical that helps remove waste from the body.

They key to long term Weight loss is by eating the right foods to balance out the hormones and detoxify the liver which is our largest detoxifying organ. All meals consumed should be an equal balance of omega 3, 6, and 9’s to support the neuromuscular system which regulates the hormones.

In todays society everyone is weight conscious and with the easily available processed foods it is so hard to make a decision on what are the right foods to eat. There is a misconception of high fat foods cause us to gain weight and increase cholesterol.

However if you look at how and when we started to get ‘fatter’ it has all come about when health specialists were concerned about the fat content in our diet. Food companies then decided to create products that are so called fat free or 97 per cent fat free. In doing so they replaced fat with artificial sugar and other preservatives to keep the taste of the food somewhat the same. We now have more cholesterol and weight problems than ever before.

Healthy fats supress the appetite, balance hormones and have a lower insulin sensitivity then carbohydrates. Insulin is a fat store hormone and should be monitored those looking to increase fat loss.

The Breakfast bowl

Ingredients

6 pastured eggs, scrambled

4 slices of nitrite-free bacon, cooked

3-cup spinach, chopped

1 bunch asparagus, bottom of steam removed and chopped into pieces.

1 small avocado, skin removed and interior cubed into pieces

Directions:

Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees. Heat a skillet to medium heat to scramble your eggs. Bake bacon for 12-15 minutes or until if reaches desired crispiness.

Once eggs are scrambled, in a skillet over medium-high heat add 1 to 2 teaspoons of bacon grease from cooking bacon slices. Then add chopped spinach and asparagus pieces and saute until spinach is wilted down and asparagus is tender. About 3 to 5 minutes.

To assemble breakfast bowl: add scrambled eggs, spinach/asparagus saute, bacon (crumbled if you like), and avocado dices to a bowl and enjoy!
