Best Las Vegas Grand Canyon Sunset Helicopter Tours

Some Grand Canyon helicopters are better than others. This is absolutely the case when it comes to sunset flights. If you\’re a looking for something utterly fantastic to do at the National Park, take one of these tours.

Departure Points

Sunset rides are available from Las Vegas and the South in Arizona. Departure time is typically toward the end of day or the last flight of the day. To find the one for you, simply go to the bottom of the online booking page.

From Las Vegas, the most popular sunset trip is the one that goes to the bottom of the Canyon for a Champagne Picnic. Time at bottom ranges up to 30 minutes, which is plenty of time to explore the area including the banks of the Colorado River.

There are two versions of this particular flight and they are basic and deluxe. Basic flights depart from Boulder City, which is located 30 minutes from Vegas. Deluxe versions depart from the Vegas Strip, which is about 10 minutes from all major resorts.

Limousine Service

Another big difference between basic and deluxe is that the basic package includes a shuttle van for pick up and drop off at the hotel. Deluxe tours, by contrast, use a limousine, which is awesome if you are celebrating a special occasion.

Lastly, basic tours start and land at Boulder City. Deluxe tours depart from Vegas and when they come back from the Canyon they go to the top of The Strip and then down to the bottom before landing at the Vegas helipad. Of course, deluxe tours cost more but when you factor in the perks they are the better value.

Vegas also offers air-only sunset flights and it\’s simply a matter of picking the last flight of the day. There are also basic and deluxe versions of in-air tours, too, so consider that as you book online. Like landing tours, air tours follow the same flight path to the Canyon, which includes going over Lake Mead and Hoover Dam.

South Rim

South Rim sunset tours are the last flights of the day. Further, there are only aerial options available, and they range from 30-minutes to 50-minutes of airtime. I prefer the later because it lets you see up to 75 percent of a National Park that\’s comprised of more than 1 million acres.

Please note that sunset Grand Canyon flights are very limited. As such, they have a tendency to sell out rather quickly. To get around this, always purchase them at least 1-2 weeks in advance.

The other piece of advice I have is took purchase your tour on the Internet. In addition to it being safe, easy and convenient, it\’s also where you\’ll get the best price. However, the transaction must be completed on the site in order to qualify for the Internet discount.

Conclusion

Grand Canyon sunset helicopter tours are available from Las Vegas and the South Rim. From Vegas, you get to choose between air-only and landing tours. From South Rim, your option is the 30-minute or 50-minute air tour. I always recommend that you reserve you flight several weeks in advance and that you purchase it online in order to get the best rate.
