Hiking is very popular and trails are available that can be followed that will lead to many different areas. Another very popular activity is visiting the Sky Walk located on the South Rim. This attraction allows people to walk out over the chasm and view it through glass flooring.

White water rafting is also popular. Guests can join a touring group or, with permits, conduct their own trip down the river. The temperature on the shore lines is generally much warmer than what is found at the top of the rift. Visitors are advised to bring clothing to accommodate many types of weather on tours.

The walls contain layer upon layer of historical information about earth and the millions of years during its evolution. It is a unique feature that erosion and time have not destroyed the story that is told and the beauty it contains.
