One Step to Finally Get Excited About Budgeting

Almost every person I know hates budgeting. In fact, most of them don\’t budget at all. They pay bills by the seat of their pants from check to check and what\’s left over is spendable cash. They call that budgeting. Surprise! That\’s not budgeting. It\’s simply bookkeeping to go broke. So why do people keep repeating this horrible mistake?

I read the reason people commit this crazy self financial crime is they don\’t like anything or anyone dictating how to spend their hard earned money. I can understand that because I don\’t like that either. It\’s my money and I\’ll do what I want, right? However, with no spending parameters, you\’re more likely to make impulse purchases which add up quickly and then you\’re broke again until your next check. Forget about an emergency account, or saving for housing repairs or even college for the kids or a vacation. You have a credit card for those expenses to dig your financial hole deeper and approach bankruptcy, don\’t you?

But, if everyone simply altered their perception of budgeting, then I believe we would have a wave of people experiencing: more cashflow left over after paying bills, better quality vacations annually, financial peace of mind, living life a little easier and even living their dreams.

So what\’s the huge secret? Here it is… rename budgeting to Financial Planning for Peace of Mind & Great Living. Or even it call it Taking Care of Larry if you\’re a single guy named Larry.
