Types of Soap
Soaps are used by janitorial services for the various cleaning jobs they do for their clients. They are one of the most essential janitorial supplies that they need for their daily operations. Soaps have been used for centuries now and have been shown to be quite effective in cleaning almost any kind of materials and surfaces, not to mention our bodies. There are many types of soaps, depending on the particular purpose for which they are used. Here are the most important ones used by all janitorial service providers.
1.Kitchen soaps. There are two kinds of kitchen soaps, namely: cleansers and dish detergents. Cleansers are often made with mild abrasives that are meant to eliminate heavy soil or solid particles and hard to remove stains. There are different grades of cleansers depending on the type of abrasives they contain. Cream cleansers are mild while powdered cleansers are harsh. Dish detergents are designed to cut through tough grease and suspend solid particles in the foam produced by the soap. Machine dishwasher detergents have less foaming and are formulated to work best at high temperature settings of a dishwashing machine. Hand dishwashing detergents have strong grease removing properties and are formulated to work at lower temperature.
2.Laundry soaps. This type of soap is formulated to remove grease, solid particles and organic compounds from fabrics. They are mild and usually work under different conditions and water temperatures, although they work best in hot or warm water. They are available in liquid, powder and gel forms.
3.Cleaning soaps. This type of soap has different formulations to clean grease and soil. Unlike cleansers however, they don’t contain harsh abrasives.
4.Industrial soaps. These soaps are usually sold in large containers such as 55 gallon drums. These containers are usually coupled to pressure cleaning equipment. They are generally used in auto centers, car washes, and clean up of production lines.
5.Personal soaps. This kind of soap comes in many forms and special formulations for specific personal hygiene needs. One type is the antibacterial soap that is designed to prevent bacteria and viruses from spreading. It usually contains chloroxylenol, a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent that can kill up to 99.9% of bacteria in the human skin. There are also regular personal detergent soaps that are formulated to suspend solid particles in the foam they produce. Manufacturers usually mix lotions and organic extracts to the soap in order to add moisture to the skin after the detergents have stripped the moisture out of the skin. Body and hair soaps have a blend of ingredients that cleans the skin and hair as well. They are typically used in schools and many fitness clubs.
The general uses of soaps and detergents in janitorial services include bathroom maintenance such as washing of bathroom walls, urinals and toilets; washing of venetian blinds and windows, carpet cleaning, mopping of floors. No janitorial service should be found lacking in soaps as they are should be part of your basic arsenal in fighting and removing stains and odors in the homes and offices you clean.
