How Daycare Grants Help Women?

By | September 12, 2011 | Business

The proper care of a child in their early stages is the primary responsibility of the mother. In all aspects, biological, emotional, physical and social, the woman is tasked to rear the child from birth until he or she is capable of being independent. However, in today’s society, child rearing is just one of the many duties of women. Most women today have their own careers to take care of too. Work is more of a necessity than a personal goal. The extra income women make contributes to the family budget. There is also an alarming increase of unwed mothers and single parents from the teen-age years to the middle age bracket. This makes studying, working and fending for a family a Herculean multi-tasking feat!

Oftentimes, the woman makes the biggest sacrifice of giving up school or her job just to stay home and take care of the kids. This kind of decision becomes a problem in the long term. A woman’s lack of education becomes a hindrance in getting a decent job that can help provide for her family. The lack of substantial income makes it very difficult to raise children!

Fortunately there are organizations and foundations that support the cause for women! These organizations help women by providing daycare grants that provide financial assistance to women who have children and are still attending school. There are several grants that give scholarships to the mothers and cover the expenses needed for childcare.
This kind of grant is very important and benefits a lot of mothers around!

One such organization is Grant Basics101. This non-government organization has been working since 1993. It receives money from donations, grants and fund raisers. The funds are allocated solely to provide free daycare needs of children and the educational requirements of mothers. This helps lessen the financial burden of the mother and reduces the stress of studying while caring for the children. In return, the organization strictly monitors the participation of the mother. If they see that the mother does not show the same motivation, the candidate is removed from the program.

Several colleges and universities are offering a similar program. Not only do these programs provide scholarships and grants that pay for the educational costs of the mother but also cover the expenses required in childcare. Some have built childcare facilities within the campus premises. The results are a higher school attendance of mothers and the improved perspective towards education.

There are several states in the US that are offering state funded grants which can be used for the childcare needs of mothers. Scholarships and daycare grants can be requested thru state agents who provide development grants and federal childcare. The eligibility requirements differ from state to state.

There are also other non-profit organizations like Raise the Nation and W.I.S.P that give daycare grants. These grants not only provide money to enable the mother to finish school but a portion of it can be used for the daily childcare needs of their kids.
