So the day has finally arrived when your child has finished their education and is ready to venture out into the big wide world. It’s a significant occasion in anyone’s life, after all they are at the crossroads of their career and the possibilites seem endless. It’s an occassion that you might like to mark by buying them a gift but what sort of present would be appropriate to mark the event? At first it may not be immediately obvious, however with a little creative thinking you will be able to find something suitable. Here are a few ideas to inspire you.

For some reason students seem to get the travel bug at this time in their life so perhaps you might like to get them a travel tour of somewhere they’ve always wanted to go. When a young adult is at the stage of their life between education and employment it is the perfect time to go exploring, however you should only consider this if your budget is sufficient.

Students are practically dependant on their computers and laptops so very little is likely to change when they go into full time employment. A nice idea could be to purchase a flash drive for their computer. Practical gifts will be appreciated a lot more than you might first realise, especially my tech-savvy young adults who spend the majority of their time on computers. This would be an excellent idea if your budget is a little more modest.

If you are looking for a gift which is perhaps a little more stylish then you might like to buy them a designer watch. There are so many different types of designer watch available and for the young person who will be getting dressed up for job interviews, a stylish watch will help to complete their outfit.

You may want to mark the occasion buy buying them something a bit more creative like a piece of art. This could be a painting, or a framed picture of a favourite piece of art. There are also shops which sell unique designer glasswear which will certainly act as the talking point of any room. Gifts like these can be a bit more personal as you will be able buy something which will relate to their personality.

Another creative idea would be to buy your child a nice wallet. Not only will it look stylish, but it will also be extremely practical – especially so if you find the generosity to add a bit of cash inside. This will be an especially welcome gift to the graduate who finds that they have a lot of loans to pay off!

If your child has managed to get themself a job lined up that requires them to travel around a lot then perhaps you would like to buy them a laptop or notebook computer. If you are trying to keep your spending to a minimum then don’t worry as these can be bought surprisingly cheaply.

So you see all it takes is a little bit of creative thinking and you’d be surprised and what gifts would be suitable.
