Businesses to Complement Your Daycare Center

By | July 16, 2011 | Business

While a daycare center is an entire self-contained business in itself, there is another complementary business that you can setup at the same time to add more profits to your existing daycare center. You can also be a round-the-clock baby sitting services provider. This means that parents can come and leave their children with you in the evening and stay there for the night, or even over the weekend for an extended stay. The good thing about this is that you don’t have to create any detailed plan or program since the children will generally be sleeping most of the while you take care of them.

Emergency babysitting is in demand and only a few daycare centers know this. A potential for huge extra profits exist in this market. The only thing you need to do to realize more income is to make sure that you establish a good image and untarnished reputation for taking excellent care of children left by their parents with you. This way, more parents will come to your daycare center, not only to leave their older kids with you during regular hours of the day, but also leave their babies during the night or entire weekends if necessary for baby-sitting. You can charge the maximum rate if you maintain your good services and parents keep coming to you to leave their babies. Make sure your fees are current by comparing them with other similar business in your community.

Another complementary business venture that you can set up is a van or bus pick-up service for the same children left in your care. This service would be most convenient for parents to leave their children in your daycare center. You would have to get staff for cleaning up indoors and outdoors but he/she can also handle the driving duties for your van or bus. But be careful about your choice of driver; you need to be certain that he/she has enough driving experience to carry out the job. If you don’t have your own bus or van, you can have a contract with a local transportation service provider to offer this service in your daycare center.

The hardest part about operating a daycare center is dealing with parents although certainly, for any person in the daycare center business, dealing with children could be the most exciting and wonderful time in their lives. It could be very hard to tell a parent that you are refusing to allow their child to attend that day because their child has a runny nose, a fever or diarrhea, or talk to a parent about their child’s disruptive behavior without causing any ill feeling in them because they might think you consider their child “bad”. It is always a joy to work with children because they can lead you to see things that you as an adult have forgotten to see. They can inspire us again to have fun and be excited about the things that surround us everyday. A daycare center is a necessity in any community because parents need to leave their child somewhere safe and where they can learn about new things. You can fill up this need by providing not only the basics in your daycare center but other services as well like baby sitting and pick-up services.
