3 Times When Pagers Come in Handy

Every now and then in the world of hustle, bustle and busyness that we inhabit today, everybody dreams of being incommunicado for a day or two. A short time without communication would not only be peaceful, it would give us a chance to catch up on ourselves and relax a little. However, there are some situations in which you would really appreciate having pagers to hand.

When you’re with the In-laws

There is nothing more frustrating than being stuck at the in-laws’ house whilst the most important football match of the year is on. In fact, knowing your mates are enjoying watching the game at the pub whilst you’re on your best behaviour at a Sunday family dinner is likely to drive you to distraction. At least, it might be had pagers not been invented. Fortunately, seeing as they have, all you need do is ensure that your friends who have pagers themselves remember to page you each time there is a goal scored or a player sent off. With just a sneaky peek into your pocket, which neither your significant other nor their parents will even notice, you will be kept completely up to date without anyone knowing. That is, providing that you can hold in the celebratory cheer when you hear that your team has won…

When you’re Expecting

When you’re expecting a baby, it is an incredibly exciting time and you would not want to miss a single moment of it. However, there are many couples who find themselves in a situation where the father is stuck at work in a meeting when the mother goes into labour. Whilst it can be quite difficult to answer a phone call mid-meeting, receiving a page is another story. So, when you find out your wife is pregnant, you should immediately start looking into pagers. Enabling you to receive a message announcing the start of labour quickly and efficiently, but also discreetly; pagers can help you to ensure that you don’t miss a thing. All you will have to do is try to contain your excitement as you make your excuses and exit the meeting as quickly as possible.

When you’re on a Bad Date

We’ve all been in that situation when what seemed like it might be a perfect date turns sour. Perhaps they don’t look quite the way you remembered them, or perhaps the conversation just isn’t flowing; for whatever reason, the spark just isn’t there. But fortunately, you can have a contingency plan in place involving yours and a friend’s pagers, which will get you out of the bad date unscathed. Having already arranged for a friend to page you about an hour into the date, you will then have the opportunity to feign an emergency and make your escape. But what if the date is going well I hear you ask? Well then, your pager going off will simply make you look popular which can only be a good thing.

So, whilst the majority of the time we crave peace and quiet and an escape from the constant communication allowed by technology, there are still times when we would be lost without pagers.
