Did you know that paintball is capturing the attention of all ages and becoming ever more popular as time goes on. In the early 80’s, a few close friends wanted to “pretend” to be in an African safari of their very own. In order to complete the mission, they had to hunt down the opponents instead of animals; thus the humble beginnings of the game of paintball.

There are many Americans playing this fun game. Most of the players are male in the age ranges of 18 to about 40. Paintball can be played by any age or sex though and is starting becoming really popular for women looking for something a different than a mani-pedi. There are usually several teams in the game. The common goal is to shoot all opponents. There are a variety of ways the game can be played which in turn, makes paintball so unique.

Masks, paintballs and the paintball gun (also know as a “marker”) are the main equipment needed for the paintball experience. Each face mask usually has ear flaps to protect the ears and also covers the entire facial area. The paintball itself, is a small gel-like capsule which is filled with paint of any color. These capsules break very easily upon impact or contact. The paintball equipment necessary to play usually runs about $100 for the basics. For beginners, it is wise to rent equipment first. To rent, you will probably pay anywhere from $20 to $80 per day.

After you are sure that paintball is a game for you, then is the time to purchase more expensive equipment for your playing style. There is a wide array of equipment available for each player’s particular taste.

When you want to be the best at your paintball game, it is wise to be in good physical shape as well. Cardio exercises will help with building your stamina level. You should combine strength training with cardio. Working out at least 3 times per week will prove very beneficial. Jogging or riding a bike are excellent cardio workouts. To build your endurance and speed, strength training will greatly help. Choosing a healthy diet is smart option also.

There are safety precautions which should be taken during the game play. Paintball is one of the very safest sports to play when safety measures are followed, but caution should always be taken. Face masks and protective gear should always be worn by all players. Any blind firing could be potentially very dangerous. Shooting anyone at close range can bruise and hurt.

The game is very basic to play. As stated earlier, there are many varieties of game play as well. The simplest game method is taking out the opposing team players by shooting all players. Capturing the Flag is a very popular version of paintball. King of the Hill, like the children’s game, is simple and fun as well.

The most important factor to keep in mind is – HAVE FUN!!!
