Limo Company Going Strong Despite Recession
When the recession started in 2007, many of my friends and business acquaintances thought my company was sunk. That’s because I own a limo rental, and luxuries are the first thing to go in any budget.
However, we’re still going strong. So how does that work?
There are a number of reasons my company is riding the recessionary wave. For starters, we knew it was coming, and we were able to start looking for ways to cut costs so that when the recession hit, we had some savings.
Also, some companies can no longer afford to own their own limos, so rentals are an excellent, affordable option. We knew a lot of companies would be letting their fleets go when the recession hit, and we were already forming relationships with them before 2007. When the recession happened, were there to help these companies cover their limo needs.
The biggest reason, though, is that limos are more than just a luxury. For businesses, they are a way to send clients and potential clients some powerful messages about the health and commitment of the company. As I’ve repeated over and over these past few years, a limo rental is not an expense. It is an investment. If you want your business to thrive, you have to invest in it.
Clients and potential clients want to see a company that is confident, powerful and healthy. A limousine says all those things. It might sound superficial to say a limo can do that for you, but the reality is, humans respond to visual signals. It’s just the way we are. A limo tells your people that you’re company is stable. Scrimping and saving on transportation tells them that you are shaking in your boots.
Since I say that renting limos is an investment, I should go into some details on what your ROI will be. Your biggest ROI will come from potential clients.
Your potential clients, those people you have been wooing and who are perhaps playing hard to get, are going to go with a stable company. I know it sounds really simple, but it’s the truth. When you drive up in a limo, you are letting them know through action that you are stable. Action, after all, speaks louder than words. You don’t need to go on and on in your meetings about how stable you are. They will have seen your stability on wheels, and they are much more likely to sign on the dotted line. You’ve dug into your budget to afford the limo, but with a new client in your portfolio, you now have a bigger budget. There’s ROI for you.
As an owner of a limo company, I am always on the look-out for ways to help businesses, small and large, afford limo rentals. It’s good for them and, of course, it’s good for me. The recession is going to end eventually. Your job is to keep your company going strong, no matter what the economic climate is.
