What you need to prepare for

Before you even try to bring your metal detector under the water, know that there are things that you should consider. First, you have to make sure that your metal detector is meant to be used under the water and secondly, you should make sure to have learned how to snorkel or scuba dive. You may think that scuba diving is going to lengths at it, but with proper scuba diving training, you can make yourself stay under the water quite longer.

You can probably get a scuba diving license first, and you can easily find places that offer that through directories online. Once you have earned the proper certification, you will be free to roam the sea. Just make sure not to go scuba diving alone; instead arrange to do this activity with a group or at least one person you know.

You will also need some digging instruments; but when you do the digging that you have to do underwater, please make sure not to disturb and destroy the natural environment too much. Try to preserve the coral reefs, most especially, because these serve as homes to many creatures under the sea.

Areas other than the ocean

The ocean is not the only place that you can do metal detecting. You can enjoy this activity everywhere but just make sure to be mindful of your environment at all times. You may be too wrapped up with the excitement of the discovery your have made and forgot to turn your guards on.
Remember that there are dangerous creatures under the sea, and you can easily get yourself hurt, if you are not so careful.

Research about the area before you decide to go diving. Know the history of the place first before you go in. Find out if there had been other people who had attempted to dive in that area, why they chose it and what happened to them? If you keep yourself armed with all these information, you will be like a soldier, ready for the war. This activity can really be enjoyable for anyone, especially if you prepared well for it. Make sure to take the above discussions, because it will help you along the way.
