Five Things We Look For in a Good Restaurant

By | June 1, 2012 | Food and Drinks

Almost everyone has a favorite restaurant. It does not matter if you live in a big city or a small town; we all have our favorite place to eat. It is sometimes a restaurant where we have had a pleasant experience with someone special or celebrated a special occasion. Usually though, it is the place that meets or comes close to our subconscious criteria of the perfect restaurant. Often, we do not even recognize that this has happened. We just know that we enjoy visiting our restaurant and go there as often as we can. For most people it is a combination of these factors.

– Cleanliness
– Customer service
– Food
– Atmosphere
– Time

Cleanliness

We all associate food with a clean place in which to eat, this goes without saying. However, there is one thing that we all notice, and that is an exceptional clean restaurant. We all expect an establishment that serves food to be clean but when you go out of your way to make it spotless, people notice regardless of how close to clean other restaurants are. This is especially true of the restroom facilities.

Customer Service

If there is one thing that stands out in everyone\’s mind after visiting a restaurant, it is how we are treated. Customer service is the defining factor in how we rate a restaurant in our subconscious. A personable waitress, a pleasant host, or a kind word from other members of the staff all embed themselves in our minds and make our dining experiences much more memorable. We tip better, refer our friends, and visit these establishments because of our customer service experiences.

Food

The quality of your restaurants food is very important to your customer. While this might seem to be an obvious point, many customers will forgive food that is not perfect over other aspects of their dining experience, like customer service or the wait staff\’s ability to remember their name, drink preferences and what they like to eat. If a waitress or waiter remembers you and what your preferences are you are likely to become a fan for life because you feel special.

Atmosphere

Atmosphere and ambiance are the two words we use to describe the place that, for us, makes for the ideal eating environment. A restaurant with soft familiar music, warm colors, and comfortable lighting all blend together to make the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal with friends. Ambiance is a feeling that we get when we visit a certain place. A restaurant that can put you in a comfortable and relaxed mood is one that you will want to visit again.

Time

If there is one thing that most people do not like, it is waiting an inordinate amount of time for our food. A restaurant that cooks our food to perfection and serves it to us quickly is a restaurant that we will visit again. When you combine these attributes, you have created a place that we call ours, as in-that is my restaurant.
