The #1 Home Business Network Marketing Mistake To Avoid

Here you are trying to build a home business in network marketing. You are following the marketing plan that your upline or other “gurus” from the company have given you.

You are getting leads, but yet you are just not getting those leads into your downline. Your business just isn’t building the way you expected it to build.

What’s going on? It is clearly not a question of effort. You are working very hard.

Most likely, you are making the home business network marketing mistake that dooms more network marketers than any other. And trust me, you are not alone.

Let me ask you a question. How have you been told to get people into your business?

Let me take a guess…

Once you get a lead, you take them directly to an opportunity call/webinar or to a company website that talks about the business opportunity with that company and how much money they can make by getting into the business of your business. The lead is bombarded with 37 links on how cool all the products are, company history, founders etc.

This is a big mistake and, in fact, it is perhaps the biggest mistake you can make. Let’s put aside the fact that many of these company websites and/or presentations are not all that well done and can be confusing.

The bigger issue, though, is that you should never be leading with a sales pitch on the business opportunity and and a grand tour of the company and its products. You want to be leading with the SOLUTION to people’s problems or the answer to whatever they are looking to find. You have to make it about helping THEM, and not about selling them.

Yes, of course your ultimate goal is to bring a lead into your business organization, but good home business network marketing is never done through the used car salesman method.

You want to keep things simple, and you want to lead your lead into wanting to be a part of your business (as opposed to showing your business down their throat). So how do you do this? What does it mean to lead them?

You want to create a marketing funnel, i.e., a way to guide them down a path to assist them in finding a solution to their problem. Say you are marketing a weight loss product. Instead of taking your leads directly to a sales call or webinar about the marketing the product and about the company selling it, you might take your leads to a call or a webinar with a few key tips about how to lose weight or about the most effective solutions to difficulty in losing weight.

That’s why the lead came to you in the first place – because they are interested in finding out about losing weight. So you want to give the lead what they came to you to find first. Then, later after you have helped to solve their primary problem, in your marketing funnel you can discuss the business opportunity. Making this one shift in the focus of your home business network marketing approach will yield dramatic changes in the number of leads you convert into member of your downline.
