The Battle
“Boink!” the paintball hit my protective face shield and the paint almost blinded my then foggy helmet. It was then that I realized how already blinded I was because of the moist on my face shield and still I kept on chasing the opponents. I never paused to clear it instead I stopped when I was hit because I could no longer see anything and just before I knew it – I was out of the game. Paintball made me think of a few moments in my life when I fail to realize right away that I need to pause and think. It is even fine to sometimes hibernate from this crucial life. When it is almost likely that we are about to fail, it is sometimes better to step back and do what is needed, for it is never about getting things done fast.
The paintball field represents the world. We people fight the battle. Although we work as a team, we must not depend on anybody. We finish the battle on our own by seeing things clearly and accurately. By paying attention to details and to what is needed in the moment. It is not always about attacking the conflict but doing the right things at their perfect timing.
An instance could be breaking up with the guy that meant the world to you. When you are in so much pain and so much blinded by tears do you think it is best to look for another guy to wipe your tears for you and make you see again? Could be. But sometimes it is best to heal yourself on your own. You have to nurse yourself back to recovery before finding another one. For when you are blinded with tears, how can you see clearly the person in front of you? How can you see and experience his love when you are overwhelmed with pain and you feel none but yourself, hurting. You will just add another one to fall in this battle with you. Do not pull people down. Allow them to fight their own battles. This is not about paintball anymore, this is life, and we can never bring back what is lost. When we have to pause, we must pause. And when It is time to go, then go. Don’t pressure yourself into something that is untimely to happen or you will forever suffer. You are just making things harder.
We can do things right, not just in the game of paintball, but in everything that we do. We just have to see things clearly and pausing sometime is enough for us to think of a better way to make things right. It doesn’t matter how long it takes for us to finish the battle in life, what matters is we fought the right way. Winning is not the game in life, it is more of sustaining. A life well-lived is a life of those who are able to sustain even in the hardest and toughest situations.
