It heats the stones you walk on and provides lunar-like scenery made of lava that has cooled and is still flowing. This is a truly unique attraction that anyone who visits Lanzarote cannot miss.

Another popular tourist spot that families love is the Charco de los Clicos. This green lagoon is secreted in a cove flanked by towering cliffs, and it was the crater of a volcano at one time. The best time to see it is when the afternoon sun is high in the sky, with the rays hitting the lagoon just right so that the various colors of the water and the surrounding cliffs are magnificent. You will be able to search for peridots on the beach, and you may even get to dine in one of the restaurants that overlooks the ocean in the village of El Golfo.

For couples who are on holiday, there is one standout destination — a wine lover’s paradise. World class table wines and Malmsey wines are produced in the La Geria Wine region, which is totally different from other vineyards that you may have seen previously. This vineyard differs from other vineyards in that the vines do not grow in long rows, but are widely spaced out. Each has its own little space on the ground, with half of them encased in rough, black lava. This makes for a wine with a unique taste that you will enjoy.

We shouldn’t leave out the extraordinary coastal spots of Lanzarote, especially Playa Blanca. There are quite a few beaches at Playa Blanca, and they are part of the Monumento Natural de los Ajaches. The most popular is the Playa Mujeres, a wide, golden beach that features walking trails along the headlands that offer beautiful views all along the shoreline. You can take a boat from Playa Blanca, or come by car. For those who want that perfect, all-over tan, topless bathing is available at the nearby Puerto Muelas, ideal for couples who are interested in a new experience while getting that perfect, well-tanned look!

For those interested in culture and history, visit the Palacio Spinola, an elegant house that used to be utilized as the island governor’s residence. Constructed in the mid-18th century, the wonderful colonial feel is preserved in the spacious rooms, gorgeous woodwork and even the chapel that is part of the property. Sunday is the absolute best time to tour because you can browse the market stalls in Tesquise and see the costumed musicians performing outside the plaza.

Last but not least, is the Los Hervideros which is an amazing lava tube that was formed by lava and gases that were previously trapped beneath the surface. This has formed some unbelievable deep sea caves and blow-holes in the coarse black rocks. As the heavy surf pounds the shore, it continually breaks and erodes the stone, thus creating additional caves and blow-holes. This unique experience is ideal for the entire family, and it’s a place you can revisit every time you come to the island and look for changes that have taken place since your last visit.
