Planning a Destination Wedding
Because weddings can be so expensive, many couples choose to have a destination wedding. That is, they choose to have the wedding and honeymoon all in the same location. This is a great idea that saves a lot of money. Instead of hosting a huge reception, the couple invites a handful of close family and friends for a mini get-away. There are so many options one can choose from when planning a destination wedding. Around the world, you can find many hotels and resorts that will help you plan your wedding from beginning to end. Here are some ideas that I hope will help you when planning your destination wedding.
Destination weddings have become very popular lately. They are largely popular with: couples on a budget that want to save money, couples that don’t want to deal with the stress of wedding planning, couples who have been married before, couples who have a small wedding party, or even couples who want a really big wedding and choose to take over a resort. If you are wanting to take over the entire resort, you will want to book this far in advance so the hotel or resort can make accommodations for this.
When planning a destination wedding, make sure you do your research on marriage laws. Many countries have now become less strict and make it easier for outsiders to get married. You still want to make sure you have met all of the requirements for you marriage to be considered “legal” in your country of residence.
Some of the most popular wedding destinations include Mexico, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Hawaii, Aruba, Fiji, and Europe. Almost all of these are at the beach. After you have chosen your destination, you will want to contact the visitor’s information center and they will be able to help you choose your wedding location. I would also suggest looking online to get a better idea of what each hotel or resort looks like. This will also help you determine if they can accommodate your wedding party.
If you are planning your wedding abroad, I would suggest getting a travel agent who specializes in destination weddings to help you with everything. You will need to start on this as soon as possible and provide your travel agent with as much information as possible. You also want to contact everyone who you would like to invite soon so they can make travel arrangements.
Some resorts, such as Sandals, provide brides with a consultant at the resort who takes care of all the details for your big day. This is very nice because your can secure all of your vendors by dealing with one person. If the destination you have chosen does not provide this, I would recommend you look on the Internet for vendors or get suggestions from the locals. It’s always a good idea to interview a vendor on the phone or email before you make your decision to use them or not.
Having a destination wedding will be a joyous event that is unforgettable. Marrying your best friend with the sound of waves crashing on the shore while being surrounded by your loved ones has potential to make your big day more special than you can imagine.
