Colours can make or break a visual image and since web design is all about conveying messages in form of visual images, you need to create a great scenery for this message to be delivered. There are three different groups of colours: warm, cool and neutral. You can consider choosing a certain board group to work with for your web design task.

Warm Colours

– Red is a very fun colour and this is great colour to use for your website if you want to capture the attention of your visitors at first glance. Red is usually associated to different intense emotions such as lust, enthusiasm and so much more; but for a website it shouts: “look at me!”

– Yellow although signifying fear and weakness will convey such a very warm feeling to your site. It will be able to create some kind of feeling of spring, and make them feel rather cheerful and warm.

– Orange is always representative of Halloween and fall, but if you wish to trigger people’s appetite, orange is such a great colour to be able to do just that. So if your website is a food website, you should know that orange is the colour to use.

– Pink does not only give out softness, it also touches the feminine and baby-ish and innocent side of people. So if you are trying to target this kind of demographic, you should consider using pink.

Cool Colours

– Blue is such a relaxing colour that encourages reliance and intelligence. It is actually the safest colour to use in web design as you hardly will make a mistake when you use it.

– Green always represents money, but it could also be linked to emotions like envy and greed. Sometimes it can represent freshness and the feeling of being in the natural environment.

– Purple is all about uniqueness and innovation. The darker shades of purple is often about royalty and the lighter ones are about romance.

Neutral Colours

– White is peaceful and it also sends a message of marriage and hope.
– Grey can talk about trustworthiness and being a traditionalist.
– Brown is earthy and homely.
– Black is about negativity and darkness.
