It has always been the opinion of those who truly love Halloween that the costume you choose to wear either reflects the best part of you or spoofs the worst part of you. Taking that theory one step further, you should wear the opposite of who you truly are in your day to day life. Halloween is the one day a year that some people allow themselves to cut loose after all and even then, it’s never much of a deviation from their actual form, so why not dig really deep and find the Halloween costume that is the least natural to you. Tip One: Make Sure Everyone is Going to Play Along

You did the head count and this is the year that you get to play the Brady Bunch with a twist. However, your youngest child, who was going to get to play little Cindy Brady has decided that she would rather go to a sleepover party and your oldest son has declared himself religiously opposed to Halloween entirely, losing your Greg. While you can go ahead with your plans with your remaining clan, will you be as happy with your efforts? Another example: you and your husband are supposed to go to a party dressed as a famous couple and while he said he would go and he grunted something along the line of whatever you pick would be fine with him, he is now reneging on the entire deal- seems he did not realize that Romeo would include tights and he hates the fancy shoes. You can either skip the party, make a last minute substitution for the costume, drag pouty Petey to the party in the dreaded costume or divorce the cad… just kidding. Everyone has to be up for the role they are being thrust in or the magic of the moment is lost completely.

There once was a Halloween party where two competing families showed up in the same family costume.
