In industry and places like hospitals, there is a need for cleanliness that goes beyond the norm. People are shedding particles all the time, and then they carry things in on their shoes or feet too. They usually take swabs and get them tested and this should indicate when the matting needs specialized cleaning, or whether it can be left for a little longer.
