Gold Coast Night Life
About 5 years ago I came to the Gold Coast not knowing what I was getting myself into. I didn’t realise that Gold Coast, especially Surfers Paradise was something like Las Vegas in Nevada. It truly is a Sin City – a city that never sleeps.
Gold Coast is known for its nightlife. But before I can tell you about the actual nightclubs, I have to explain how the suburbs actually divide this city and its nightlife.
Let’s start with Surfers Paradise. Apparently Surfers Paradise has more bars, pubs and clubs per capita than any other place on the world. This is mainly because Surfers Paradise itself is quite small. You can walk from one end to the other in about 20 minutes.
If you were looking to party in surfers there are a few venues that you would want to definitely check out.
Sin City is one of those clubs that is always packed after about 10pm – even on a Monday night. Their staff is dressed accordingly. You will have to have a coloured shirt and nice shoes to get in though. Special events in this venue include “Ladies Night” on Tuesdays and Thursdays and an occasional live performance by any of the big names in the DJ and Rap industries.
Vanity is another one of the “Do not miss out on!” sports in Surfers. It stands for everything that is vain. But they certainly know how to look after the ladies. Apparently the ladies toilets have full hair and makeup stations where a lady can freshen up. And apparently it is quite impressive.
Shooters nightclub is also in the heart of Surfers Paradise. This place is more like your typical pub that turns wild after about 10pm. They do, however, play both top 40 and RnB music. There are 3 full dance floors each spinning different tunes. And the staff is usually very friendly.
If you were up for something a bit more upmarket, head over to Broadbeach (a suburb next to Surfers Paradise). There you will find LOVE – a newly opened classy nightclub. It can be a bit expensive at times, but it is definitely worth checking out.
The most famous club in Broady is EAST which has been going for a number of years now. Don’t let the entrance fool you (the entrance is actually from a dark alley). This is the classiest place in town.
If you are into trance, check out Platinum Nightclub. These guys sponsor a local radio station and bring in the biggest DJ’s from around the world.
Partying on the Gold Coast and in Surfers Paradise is mostly safe, unless you are an idiot. But I am sure that you will agree that in any place that caters to a lot of party animals you will have to look after yourself. Stay away from nightclub crawls if you are not single. And if you have a group of girlfriends and just want to have a good time, make sure you pre-plan your night and get some VIP treatment.
