George Strait Tickets – Billboard’s Top Country Artist of the Past 25 Years

It should come as no surprise that country music mainstay George Strait landed at No. 1 on Billboard’s list of the top 25 country music artists of the past 25 years. The top five of Billboard’s list-which was compiled in honor of Billboard’s Country Summit and the CMT Awards-also includes Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Alan Jackson and Tim McGraw. The list spans the Cialis past 25 years (1985-2010) and was compiled after Billboard looked back at the Billboard Hot Country Songs and Top Country Albums charts.

A member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, George Strait holds more than a few all-time Billboard records. For example, Strait has 44 No. 1 singles on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart-which is the most by any artist in the chart’s 64-year history. Strait took the lead on the chart in September 2006 when his single “Give It Away” became his 41st leader, pushing previous record-holder Conway Twitty to No. 2. Strait has a whopping 82 Top 10 singles under his belt (second only to Eddy Arnold’s 92 Top 10 singles) and is the only artist in the history of Billboard to score Top 10 singles in 30 consecutive years (1981-2010).

Fans with George Strait bought tickets online can see the “King of Country” when his tour kicks off Sept. 9. Strait will reprise his tour with Reba McEntire and Lee Ann Womack in Columbus, Ohio on Sept. 9 and his trek will also make stops in Lexington, Ky.; Nashville, Tenn.; Columbia, S.C.; Birmingham, Ala.; Bossier City, La.; Pittsburgh, Pa.; Philadelphia, Pa.; Buffalo, N.Y.; Minneapolis, Minn. and Fargo, N.D. through Oct. 22. Strait’s upcoming road trip is in support of his latest album, Twang, which is his 38th album release! As of April 13, Twang had sold 551,000 copies since its August 2009 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Strait is also in the works with a DVD reissue of a concert taped in the 1980s, when he launched his career. George Strait Live features Strait and his Ace in the Hole Band captured on video for the first time and was filmed at the Dallas Reunion Arena on New Year’s night in 1986. Boasting digitally remastered 5.1 surround sound, George Strait Live also features bonus music videos for “Amarillo by Morning,” “The Chair,” “Check Yes or No,” “She’ll Leave You with a Smile” and “Living for the Night.”

Strait first began notching country hits in the 1980s, when his debut single “Unwound” landed among the Top 10 on the charts. The hits kept on coming for Strait, who scored his first No. 1 single in 1982 with “Fool Hearted Melody.” The emergence of Tim McGraw into the country music scene in the 1990s pushed many country stars of the ’80s out of the Brand Levitra way, but not George Strait! Strait continued to score hits in the ’90s and right into the new millennium, with his eponymous 2000 album spawning the hit single “Go On.” Strait shows no signs of slowing down and fans of this living country music legend won’t want to miss his tour this fall.
