How to Decorate Your Home on a Budget

If you want to redecorate your home but you have a very modest budget, you are not alone. Decorating can be expensive, especially if you choose to use name brand design stores.

While it may take some extra searching and creativity, it is not impossible to redecorate your home, without breaking the bank. Here are some ideas which might help you find your own creative side, and get you started on your project.

If you want to avoid very expensive things, avoid stores that have the designer’s name in them. For example, at Nicole Jane Home Decor you can find beautiful things, but you may only be able to afford one piece instead of a whole room’s worth of things.

So, the first suggestion is to be creative-think about how you could alter pieces of furniture you already have. Try adding a new color of stain or paint to an existing table, picture frames, etc.

If you have an old, chipping coffee table, paint it! This will give it a fun, vintage look.

You can even use creative effects such as crackling, antiquing, artificial wood grain, and more to change up the look of your aging furniture. You can find useful suggestions and ideas at your local Home Depot or Lowe’s.

Another inexpensive idea is to change the color and or style of your curtains. Curtains can be pretty inexpensive, if you buy them somewhere like Target or Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Sometimes just changing the muted colors in your living room to a popping red or turquoise can change the entire feel and tone of the room. Don’t be afraid to experiment with bright colors-they can be very fresh and bright without overpowering your room.

If you really want to change things up, paint one or two walls in your living room. Find a color that is interesting to you, and instead of painting the entire room, compliment it with a different color on the two remaining walls.

You will be surprised how nice this can look-your room will look more open with the two different colors, and since you are coating your entire room in one color, you can be free to use a brighter or bolder color on just two walls.

Experimenting with color combination can be very fun! Try a rusty red with taupe, or maybe a nice sea green with cream wall highlights.

Another way to really change the look of your room is with the ceiling. Using embellished tin squares to cover your ceiling can be very beautiful, and add a great artistic flair to a room.

Companies such as Tin Ceiling Xpress offer a great variety of designs, colors, and materials for a very affordable price. The end result is a gorgeous, professional, modern look to your ceiling.

If you don’t want to use just steel, they can even hand paint vintage tiles for you. The patterns range from floral, to Gothic, to cornices, to rope, and anything you can think of.

If you don’t want to cover your whole ceiling, you can even just create a border around the outside. This is an even more affordable way to create a new look.

Now that you have mixed up your furniture, your curtains, painted, and tin-tiled your ceiling, it’s time to do some decorating. Stores like Bed, Bath and Beyond, TJ Maxx, and Cost Plus World Market offer very affordable prices.

Try highlighting walls with inexpensive framed mirrors, paintings, or even just a collage of family pictures. You can buy frames and mirrors at these stores for anywhere from ten to fifty dollars, depending on what size you are looking for.

If you want an easy way to change things up, try replacing the lamp shades. There are many fun, modern, or vintage looks available for inexpensive prices at store like Target.

By just changing the shade to something with a bit more personality, you will spice up a dull looking room. Even throwing a small flower arrangement on a coffee table will do wonders to brighten up a room.

As you can see, there are endless decorating possibilities out there for people who don’t want to spend a fortune. Just be creative, experiment, look online for ideas, and talk to professionals at stores like Cialis Professional Home Depot for more input!
