From one volunteer to another, the techniques needed for hearing examinations were shared and this volunteer program resulted from it. Calling up all the preschools within their proximity, these two ladies then began to arrange schedules for screenings for every single school.

Other than screening every child for hearing, further speech and language screenings were given to those pointed out by their teachers. The parents of the children who were absent or failed the assessments during that day were invited to bring their offspring to a clinic located at a certain area so that they could receive retests.

For each case they handled there was an analysis of certain elements like reaction to sound stimuli, speech sound usage, vocabulary, and sentence construction all considering a child’s age to see if he is at par with the kind of development expected at his level to be able to determine the need for action.

There were some parents who were given suggestions for home management while some were referred to specialists. More tests were suggested for several cases including looking into different treatment.
