Purifying Water in an Emergency

Water is a basic necessity for humans. Without water a human can die within three days depending on the climate conditions and temperatures.

Containers full of pure water should be one of the top of the list of things you need to store for an emergency. There is another option available to you if you cannot afford to store pre-bottled water from the store.

This option is store water filters and purifiers instead. However, keep in mind that even steady sources of dirty water may not be available in an emergency.

Some pure, clean water should be stored even if you are certain that some form of water will be available to you and that you will have enough water purifier to last. You do not want to take the risk that you will Kamagra not have water for the first three critical days of an emergency.

Under no circumstances should you ever drink dirty or contaminated water. Severe diseases such as dysentery, typhoid and hepatitis can be developed from drinking dirty water.

You do not want to risk contracting these diseases in an emergency situation because emergency medical personnel or hospital personnel will not be able to help you. There are many ways to purify water, but none of them can completely make sure the water is clean.

There are three main ways of purifying water. These Viagra Jelly methods will kill most of the microbes found in the water, but cannot separate out heavy metals, salts, or other chemicals.

However, if you are in desperate need of water and have access to dirty water, these methods of purification should definitely be used. They are much better than simply drinking the dirty water.

Before you begin the purifying process, strain the water if you can. Clean cloth is the best because it is fine knit enough that it will get most of the particles of dirt out.

The first method of impromptu purification is to boil the water. Boiling has been known as one of the safest methods of purifying the water.

The water should boil for three to five minutes to ensure that most of the bacteria are gone. This will result in some of the water evaporating off, but it is much better to have clean water.

Be sure to let the water cool before you drink it. Hot water does not taste very good.

You can make this water taste slightly better by pouring the water back and forth between two clean containers. This motion will put the oxygen back into the water.

The second method of purification is disinfection. Household liquid bleach is a common chemical that can disinfect your water.

The household liquid bleach that you used should have no more than 5.25 percent sodium hypochlorite in it. Other bleaches that are scented, color-safe, or have additional cleaners should definitely not be used as well.

Simply add 16 drops of the bleach to every gallon of water and stir. After well mixed, let the mixture sit for a half an hour.

At the end of that time period the water should have a faint bleach smell to it. If this is the case, add 16 more drops of water and let it stand for another 15 minutes.

Sodium hypochlorite is the only chemical substance that should be used to clean water. Even though Iodine and other water purification products are sold at stores, they really should not be available because they cannot properly clean the water.

Only products that contain 5.25 percent sodium hypochlorite should be used. It is the only recommended chemical and the only one that effectively cleans the water.

The third method of purification takes more preparation and thought, but it is the most effective. The method of distillation can also removed the bacteria that are not removed through one of the other processes.

This method can also remove salts, heavy metals, and other impurities that are found within the water. Many people purchase and buy their own distillation machines, but they are very expensive.

An alternative way to distill water is to place the water in a clean pot with a knob-type handle in the middle. Then, turn the pot’s lid upside-down and ties a cup under the handle.

The cup should hang right side up when the lid is turned right side up. The cup should not be touching the water.

Then, bring the water to a boil and boil for 20 minutes. The water that drips from the lid into the cup will be distilled and you can consider it clean water.
