Since times immemorial, India has been the home to a variety of cultures which is depicted in the various architectural edifices present in the country.It showcases the rich and the advanced cultural development of the country.There are many cities which have great cultural and architectural significance.

But if we take the most visited cities in the Indian sub-continent, then those will be definitely the ones which I am going to mention below.These cities have put India on the global platform for their cultural and architectural richness.

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar is situated in the eastern coastal plains of Orissa around south-west of River Mahanadi.The modern capital of the Orissa state is often referred Viagra Jelly to as the Temple Metropolis of India due to the presence of nearly 500 temples here.It is said that at one point there were nearly 7000 temples in the city.A dozen of them have their own architectural uniqueness which draws a lot of visitors to this city.The temples date back to the Kalinga period and strongly reflect its architectural thoughts.

Bhubaneswar is the second well- planned city in the country after Chandigarh.The infrastructure perfectly complements the historic surroundings of the city.The most significant landmark in the city is the Lingaraja Temple which is the best example of the Orissa Temple architecture.It soars to the height of 55 meters and dominates the skyline for 15 kilometers in vicinity.One of the most important aspects is that it is not open for Non-Hindus.The deity at the temple is strictly not the linga of Shiva as in most cases but this swayambhu linga is assumed to be Hari-Hara i.e.half Shiva and half Vishnu.

Chittorgarh: Tales of valor and sacrifice abound in Chittorgarh, the historic city of Rajasthan. This is the biggest fort in the entire country and was the seat of power for the rulers of Mewar.Chittorgarh has experienced large scale immolations and destruction thrice in its history.Its history speaks of the great Rajput rulers who preferred death to submission to the enemies.

Chittorgarh is often mentioned as a Bhakti aur Shakti ki Nagari (land of devotion & strength) symbolizing the significance of devotion and strength.The main attraction in this city is the Chittorgarh Fort which has experienced invasions and complete destruction at the hands of Muslim rulers.Apart from the Fort, other places of tourist interest include Rana Kumbha’s Palace, Rani Padmini’s Palace, Vijay Stambh, Kirti Stambhh, Meera Mandir and the kalika Mata Mandir.

Khajuraho: Khajuraho is a city in the Chhattarpur district of Madhya Pradesh which invokes a feeling of mysticism and eroticism.It is located in the interiors of the district which till a few decades back did not have a proper approach.It is the home to some exquisitely carved Hindu and Jain temples which attract a lot of visitors to the small village.These medieval period temples are famous for their erotic sculpture which is found on the outer walls of the temples.There is no such carving in the inside of the temples.The Khajuraho Temples have been listed as the UNESCO World Heritage Site and is also considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of India.

Apart from these there are many more heritage cities in India which can include Ujjain, Tanjavur, Bundi, Tiruchirapalli etc.All these cities symbolize the ancient Indian religious and architectural culture of those times.
