Conan O’Brien recently offered some insight into his tour when he performed at the Masonic Auditorium in San Francisco. USA Today reports that he told audience members, “This tour is, honestly, the first time people have ever paid to see me perform. Truly. Of course, I’ve been paid to go away.” He elaborated on this new gig of performing live, noting that he’s now able to address an audience without having to worry about being interrupted by commercials. He laughingly said, “No matter what I do, tonight your (butts) are mine for 90 minutes. You can’t change the channel.”

The former Tonight Show host will take his tour around the nation, being that he technically is prohibited from appearing on TV screens until next fall, part of the deal that he struck NBC when they canned him. But fans shouldn’t pout for long; the hilarious redhead will soon be inciting laughter on weekday evenings again once as he launches his new late night show on TBS.
