Creatively Finding New Places to Store Food

One of the biggest problems many people have with developing and maintaining a working food storage is lack of space. This can seem like a tremendous road block until you begin looking around and becoming creative.

One common room within the home is the bedroom. This room has many hide-a-holes and unlikely places that you can store food without even realizing that it is there.

For example, under the bed is a great place to store the large cans that are characteristic of food storage. The best way to store cans under the bed is to sort them by category such as fruit, vegetables, sugar and so forth.

Then, place these categories in rows under the bed. If you always place new cans on one side of the bed and then take cans as your need various things from the other side of the bed, your food storage will always be up to date because you will be using the items in order.

In addition, the boxes full of food storage cans can be easily stored underneath the bed. Some mothers have found that the presence of these boxes effectively stops children from pushing their toys, trash, and clothes under the bed to hide them when they are supposed to be cleaning their room.

These boxes can also be used in place of a bed frame and box springs. You may want to consider pulling the bed out from the wall slightly and placing boxes behind the head board as well.

Another area of the house that often has unknown places to store things is the kitchen. One of the elements of a kitchen that takes up a lot of cupboard space is the spices.

Spices stored in a cupboard can also be difficult to find without sorting through the whole shelf. Many places sell pantry door hangers that are designed to hold spices and other commonly used kitchen supplies.

Another cheaper, but slightly homemade version of this idea can be implemented to save cupboard space as well. Simple go to the store and buy excellent quality Velcro that is about two or three inches across.

Put one side of Velcro across the back of the pantry door or a cupboard door or on a wall. Then, attach the other half to your spices.

The spice should then be firmly stuck to the wall, but available whenever you need them. If you get the right kind of Velcro you will even be able to stick syrup bottles and canisters of Pam on the wall.

Another area that is often neglected is under the sink. This area is often a mess of various cleaners and junk.

Clean out this area really well and consolidate the cleaners to one area, such as the bathroom. Then, in this now really clean area, store canned food items.

It will be a much more effective use of space. Another area of the house that can effectively be used for food storage is the closet.

If your children are young, they probably will not mind you using the extra space in their closet more effectively. In the extra floor space, set up short bookshelves and store canned or other food items on these shelves.

However, be sure these shelves cannot tip over and harm your child. Make sure that the food is completely sealed, or your child will get into it.

Stack the larger cans or items you do not need as often in the far reaches of the closet that are hard to get to and often unused. It can be a pain to pull things in and out of this area, so be sure that you put things you really do not need there.

If you can, try to consolidate closets. If you have a coat closet, put your coats in a normal closet and clean out the coat closet.

Then, build shelves in the coat closet and store your food storage there. You may be surprised by how much food you can put in this area.

Another great idea that is both effective and decorative is hanging a curtain two feet away from the wall of one side of a Kamagra room. If the wall is very ugly, this will improve the look of the room.

You will also be able to store a lot of food from floor to ceiling here including cans, boxes, and mre’s. It is important to store quick and easily prepared meals in case of an emergency as well.

MRE meals can help you provide dinner during a long and busy day and can be very comforting. They are also very small and can be hidden in a variety of cracks and crevices around the home.
