For Anyone Who’s Been Grounded For Far Too Long

It’s hard to really say why it is, but it’s an undeniable fact that many people have a fascination or fixation with the idea of flying. Many crave the ability to sweep through the air, enjoying a bird’s-eye view of the land that we’re rarely able to enjoy.

This popular interest in flying isn’t a recent phenomenon either. For thousands of years mankind has looked jealously upon our feathered friends, envying their ability to just take flight and soar independently through the air. As far back as ancient Greece, working out a way to fly has been one of mankind’s most important endeavours, as is clear from the well-known story of Icarus, who famously flew too near to the sun wearing wings crafted from wax. Constructing a machine to allow humans to fly has even been pondered by some of history’s greatest minds; Leonardo da Vinci famously constructed designs for a number of flying machines, including a hang glider and even a rather rudimentary helicopter!

Despite our aspirations, however, the closest most of us ever get to flying is sitting on a cramped flight, eating notoriously awful plane food, watching re-runs of tv sitcoms and praying for the toddler two rows in front to finally shut up! And unless you’re sat in a window seat, chances are you won’t see very much of the bird’s-eye view that many people romanticise about when day dreaming about flying.

Effectively, these days most of us use planes as glorified buses to get from A to B and the experience of flying in itself is something to be endured rather than savoured and enjoyed. Sitting in a narrow seat wedged between two strangers, it’s easy to forget how amazing it truly is to be flying. When you actually think about it, flying in a plane is actually rather amazing not only do planes seem to defy gravity, but they’re a truly stunning feat of engineering that has completely transformed the way the world works.

Yet whilst large modern planes are useful for taxiing people across the globe, they also mean that most of us have become detached from what actually happens after we finally find our seat number and settle down for a couple (or more) of less than comfortable hours wearing headphones and avoiding small talk with Kamagra the person next to us! Unfortunately, in our desire to trek large numbers of people to and from everywhere from Ouagadougou to Inner Mongolia, we’ve completely forgotten how truly awe-inspiring and completely breath-taking the nature of flight really is.

With that in mind, when thinking of what special and unusual birthday or Christmas present to get someone, gift experiences that will allow them to truly enjoy the feeling of flying can hardly be beaten. It should be noted, however, that flight related gift experiences are not relegated to the domain of simple flying lessons though these are of course both fun and liberating but come in many different guises. Gift experiences which offer the recipient of the gift the chance to fly a plane is popular with regular fliers who have forgotten the beauty of flight, as well as those who have always been itching to give piloting a go for themselves.

However, if flying lessons seem a little to run-of-the-mill, there are also more unusual gift experiences available. Helicopter flying lessons are, for example, offering something a little different, though still give the recipient a change to try their hand at a little independent flight! For those who really want to experiences a bird’s-eye view and have a need to feel the wind in their hair, gift experiences such as microlight lessons is a really great option, though perhaps not for the faint hearted!

For real thrill-seekers there are also gift experiences that combine flight with an element of excitement and danger something to really get the adrenaline pumping! For those who like the idea of still being in a plane, gift experiences such as acrobatics in a Bulldog will go down a treat and film fans will love the chance to spend a day experiencing a little ‘Top Gun flying’! For the seriously adventurous, gift experiences such as bungee jumping and sky diving might be a great choice of gift, though these really are for people with nerves of steel and a very strong stomach!

For something a little more relaxed, gift experiences such as hot air balloon rides make wonderful presents. Here the recipient can enjoy the beautiful views at a leisurely pace, rather than throwing themselves out of a plane travelling at top speed!
