Have Fun in Atlanta

If you are headed to Georgia in the near future, chances are you will visit Atlanta at some point during your trip. Atlanta is the largest city in Georgia and is also the state capitol.

This article will discuss things to do in Atlanta, places to stay, and places to eat. It will be a great resource for your upcoming trip.

For tourists with children a few places you may want to visit are Zoo Atlanta, the Yellow River Game Ranch and Kangaroo Conservation Center, and the Georgia Aquarium. The zoo is in historic Grant Park and features over 200 species.

The Yellow River Game Ranch also features many animals; more than 600 of them are native to Georgia. It also houses the largest population of kangaroos outside of Australia.

Lastly the Aquarium is considered to be one of the largest in the world. Another fun spot for children is Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta.

This is a great place to go because it is located at the Centennial Olympic Levitra Park, so you will get to see two different attractions all in the same spot. Older children may enjoy taking a day trip to Six Flags Over Georgia and Six Flags White Water.

It is the largest theme park in the Southeast and features many large roller coasters. The water park is a great place to cool off as you enjoy the water slides, waterfalls and swimming pools.

For those looking to spend some time outdoors then check out the Chattahoochee River Fun where you can raft, pedal boat, canoe, or kayak. A few other great outdoor attractions are Piedmont Park, the Atlanta Botanical Garden, and Stone Mountain Park.

Looking for a museum or a historical site? Atlanta has plenty to offer including the Atlanta History Center, the Fernbank Museum of Natural History, the High Museum of Art, the Margaret Mitchell House, The Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, and the Georgia State Capitol.

A few interesting tours in this city are of the World of Coca-Cola and Inside CNN. Enjoy behind the scenes tours at both of these companies.

Another fun thing to do in Atlanta is shopping. If you love history, check out one of the historic districts.

They are full of shops, restaurants and boutiques. Roswell is a historic district as well as Marietta.

Both spots feature plenty of specialty shops. For a few modern shopping spots check out the Outlet Malls in Dawsonville, Atlantic Station, or Underground Atlanta which features six blocks of shopping and tours.

Upscale Shopping can be found at Phipps Plaza, Miami Circle, and the Bennett Street District. Sports lovers will not be disappointed in Atlanta since it is home to a variety of teams.

Check out a Braves baseball game, a Falcons football game, a Hawks basketball game, or a Thrashers hockey game. Once you have checked out these attractions you will definitely be hungry.

Where are the best places to grab a bite to eat? A few great places are Bacchanalia’s, South City Kitchen, SunDial, Dogwood, Il Mulino, Wisteria, the Colonnade, and Pasta de Pulcinella.

For visitors with kids, here are a few restaurants to suit the whole family: Souper Jenny, The Varsity, The Flying Biscuit, The Real Chow Baby, Marlow’s Tavern, and Buffalo’s Southwest Cafe. If you are looking for a great hotel look into the St. Regis, the Four Season Hotel, Stonehurst Place Bed & Breakfast, the Shellmont Inn Bed & Breakfast, The Ellis Hotel, and the Mansion on Peachtree.

A few good family-friendly hotels are: the Marriott Marquis, The Georgian Terrace, the Hyatt Regency, the Gaslight Inn, and the Embassy Suites. Lastly while in Georgia you may want to check out some of the Annual events.

The Boat Show is in January, a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration in March, an Easter Sunrise service in April, the Jazz Festival in May, an Independence Day Celebration in July, a Pumpkin Festival in October, and the Festival of Trees and Lights in November and December. As you can see, the city of Atlanta has so much to offer.
