Mamma Mia Tickets – Mamma Mia Celebrates Seven Years of Sold-Out Shows

After seven years at the Winter Garden Theatre on Broadway, Mamma Mia! continues to sell out shows in the Big Apple, across the country on its national tour and in theaters scattered around the globe. Broadway World reports that the original West End production of the musical has played over 4,000 performances and the international tour has played in more than 40 cities. If you haven’t seen this hit yet, or even if you have, you’ll want to get Mamma Mia tickets online while supplies last!

Based on the songs of Swedish pop sensation ABBA, Mamma Mia! takes Kamagra Gold place at a beach resort in the Mediterranean and tells the story of soon-to-be-bride Sophie, who wants to find out the true identity of her father before walking down the aisle. Without telling her mother Donna, Sophie sends wedding invitations to three men she read about in her mother’s diary, as she suspects one of them to be her father. All three men show up on the island, shocking the independent and single Donna, whose is consoled by her two best two best friends (and former bandmates), who are in town for the wedding. Writer Catherine Johnson weaves classic ABBA songs like “Dancing Queen,” “Money, Money, Money,” “S.O.S.” and “Take a Chance on Me” into this story about love and friendship.

Benny Anderssen and Bjorn Ulvaeus’ Mamma Mia! recently returned to Toronto for a sold-out run at the Princess of Wales Theatre from April 28 through June 6. The show was co-produced by David Mirvish, who told Broadway World before its run, “I’m absolutely delighted Mamma Mia! is returning to our stage. We introduced it to North America; originally we thought it would play for 26 weeks. It broke audience records here and remains a phenomenon that audiences everywhere fall in love with.” The creative team behind the show boasts some of the most gifted names behind-the-scenes, such as director Phyllida Lloyd, choreographer Anthony Van Laast and production designer Mark Thompson.

In 2008, the film adaptation lit up the big screen. Produced by Judy Craymer and Gary Goetzman, the feature film grossed $600 million worldwide and became the most success movie musical of all time. The all-star cast of the film adaptation featured Amanda Seyfried as Sophie, Meryl Streep as Donna and Seyfried’s real life love Dominic Cooper as her on-screen fiance Sky. The three prospective fathers Bill, Sam and Harry were played by Stellan Skarsgarf, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth, respectively, while Donna’s best gal pals Rosie and Tanya were played by Julie Walters (Rosie) and Christine Baranski (Tanya). Mamma Mia! The Movie garnered a pair of Golden Globe nominations, for Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical and Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical (Meryl Streep).

Despite the massive success of Mamma Mia! The Movie, the high-energy stage show can’t be beat. Film and stage star Katie Holmes (who appeared in the 2008 revival of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons) knows that, as Tom Cruise’s real-life leading lady brought the couple’s daughter Suri to New York’s Winter Garden Theatre in April. Suri and Katie posed with the Broadway cast of Mamma Mia!, and while not everyone will get the star treatment when seeing the show, it is still worth it!
