Norah Jones Tickets – The Fall Earns Praise

Though Norah Jones pulled out of Sarah McLachlan’s Lilith Fair this year after scheduling dates for shows in Florida, Alabama and Texas, the powerful singer still earned praise for her sporadic sets in support of The Fall. The Grammy Award winner recently wooed audiences at the Montreux Jazz Festival, where she performed some of her electrifying new tunes Independence Day weekend. “It’s so beautiful here, I can’t take it. I wish I could live here, especially when I get stressed out,” said the New York based artist who represented America for only the second time at the two-week festival. Though Jones won’t be joining some of the famous “women in music” for a tour around the nation, the 31-year-old star has already made amends with replacement dates in the area. Jones and her crew will visit Orlando and Tampa, Fla. and Oklahoma City in August after the Lilith Fair’s Southern shows were canceled. While she won’t participate in that festival, the simple opportunity to attend festivals is a new adventure for the generally acoustic star. “I haven’t done a ton of festivals in the past because my music is always so intimate and quiet. Now it’s a more dynamic set and I’m excited to play in front of some people that may not even be fans but are just around,” she said to Billboard. In addition to the jazz festival, Jones performed at Bonnaroo and Glastonbury.

The Fall lends itself to new ears, she noted, because she is working with a brand new band. The year she premiered with Come Away with Me, her first solo work, Jones partnered up with a band that included ex-boyfriend Lee Alexander. The Fall is the first collaboration without her Handsome Band and focuses more on rock and soul music. That new musical vibe is infused into hit tracks like “Chasing Pirates” and “Waiting” due in part to Jones’ switch from piano to guitar.

Rocking out on her own bright red electric number throughout the shows, Jones welcomes the new visual approach to playing guitar. “Most people think of me as a piano player ’cause that’s what I’ve always done,” she said. “On this tour I definitely started playing more guitar. With the piano, your back is always to somebody which is always a drag, no matter where you put it.” Jones jumped into promotions in March.

Jones was born the daughter of famous sitar player Ravi Shankar, but grew up with her mother in Texas. Influenced by Billie Holiday and Bill Evans, Jones started her career in music while in high school, and while she earned critical and commercial praise for her early work, went to school to further her studies. After studying for two years at the University of North Texas, Jones started enjoying the cialis cheap coffeehouse circuit too much and never returned to school.

Initially she could be heard performing with electronica outfit Wax Poetic before she teamed up a group of musicians that enabled her to sign with Blue Note Records in 2000. After that, she was recording Grammy Award-winning albums.
