Why would you ever need to store water? Is it not all around us?

The best place to store it in is in commercially bottled water plastic containers (PET). This is the easiest way to do it because you can buy it from the store already packaged up and ready to go.

When looking for a place to store your water containers, find a place where potential leakage would not damage your home, apartment, or property. Put them in a place that is easy to reach and where everyone can get to it.

Protect your stored water from light and heat. Too much heat can ruin some containers and make your water too hot to drink,

On the opposite side, do not put your containers in place where they will freeze. Some of them will become damaged if you freeze them and not do you any good when you really need them.

Empty out your water storage containers regularly and refill them. The same rule goes with all of your food storage.

Make sure that you know when certain items expire so that you can rotate them out. And do not just throw them away, replace them a couple of months before they expire so that you can still use them in your home.

When it comes times to use these things, pour the water back and forth between two containers a few times to help improve the overall taste. You can find fifteen and thirty gallon water storage containers to use instead of using a bunch of small ones.

When figuring out how much water to store, figure on one gallon per person per day for drinking and sanitation. You want to try and store at least enough water for your family for a week.
