Roger Waters Tickets – Roger Waters to Reunite with David Gilmour

Calling all Pink Floyd fans! Despite a long-running feud, Pink Floyd bandmates Roger Waters and David Gilmour recently reunited live on stage! Pollstar.com reports that the pair performed together at the HOPING Foundation charity event in Oxfordshire on July 10. Roger Waters will kick off his tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of Pink Floyd’s iconic album The Wall in Canada on Sept. 15 and David Gilmour is coming along for part of the ride!

Waters announced the news via Facebook, saying he was “blown away” when Gilmour emailed him and proposed, “If you do ‘To Know Him is to Love Him’ for the HOPING Foundation gig, I’ll come and do ‘C. Numb’ on one of your Wall shows.”

In response, Waters joked, “How could I refuse such an offer? I couldn’t, there was no way. Generosity trumped fear. And so explaining that I would probably be s*** but if he didn’t mind I didn’t-I agreed and the rest is history. We did it, and it was f***ing great. End of story. Or possibly beginning.” As for which shows the Pink Floyd will appear in together, Waters said cryptically, “Just heard from David, he will decide in due course which gig he wants to do, it will be a surprise!” This means that some lucky fans with Roger Waters tickets online will be able to see Roger Waters and David Gilmour perform together after all these years!

Teasing about the pair’s infamous feud, the Facebook page quips, “Someone, I think it was David himself, came up with this ‘Wouldn’t it be funny’, idea. What if he (David that is) were to sing the old Teddy Bears song ‘To Know Him is to Love Him’ with me (Roger that is), what with us having been so famously at each other’s throats Tadacip for years and years. Get it!!!!!” The post elicited nearly 1,000 comments from fans across the globe requesting that Gilmour appear with Waters in several cities on his tour, so stay tuned to see which fans are the lucky ones!

Rolling Stone broke the news about Waters’ The Wall Tour back in May, revealing that the music legend will perform the double album in cities throughout North America throughout the fall. The tour comes three decades after Pink Floyd famously first performed The Wall in its entirety-while a white brick wall was constructed between the band and the audience, no less. Pink Floyd toured in support of The Wall from 1980-81, and Waters delivered the album in its entirety as a solo artist in 1990 to celebrate the fall of the Berlin Wall in Germany. Containing classics like “Comfortably Numb,” “Mother,” “Run Like Hell” and “Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2,” The Wall is one of the best-selling rock albums of all time, along with Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon.

After performing 36 dates in North America (including two-night stands in Chicago, Philadelphia and Los Angeles), Roger Waters will take his tour across the Atlantic for 57 more dates in Europe beginning in March 2011, and Billboard.com reports that the veteran rocker hopes to take the tour to South America eventually as well! Speaking about the success of The Wall, Waters tells Billboard.com, “I thought it was a great piece of work. I was a bit surprised it was so successful, but I was really proud of it. I was proud of everything we did on it. It was ridiculously successful.” And ridiculously successful it was, as the album won a Grammy Award for Best Engineered Recording – Non-Classical, spent 15 weeks at the coveted No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart and has been certified 23 times platinum!
