Start a Small Internet Business

The first time I craved owning my own internet business I didn’t know what to buy first. It sounded so exciting to work from home on the internet. I bought endless courses that over promised and under delivered and spent many thousands of dollars that I didn’t have. I remember thinking to myself, “I wish there was a guide that I could follow to make my small internet business a reality.”

Well the good news is that I started to put the pieces together myself and soon realized that I had a step by step blueprint on how to start your own internet business from scratch.

So here it is. Follow this blueprint and you will soon be on your way to success.

1.Find Out What You Want To Do – There are new jobs and small internet business opportunities sprouting up each year due to this renaissance that the Internet is experiencing. For example Social Media Manager was not even a job posting on sites like Yahoo and Monster Job until early 2010. Other new home based jobs include, Website and/or Domain Flipper, App. Developer, Cell phone Ad Affiliate, SEO Manager, and many others. The fact is that a Social Media Manager makes between $25-$60 an hour for playing around on FaceBook, Twitter, Linked In, YouTube and other social media sites. Now how cool is that?

2.Create a Website – There are some really great software programs out there now that will churn out websites in a few clicks of a button. Programs like WordPress, Joomla and Intuit Site Builder can be invaluable to getting your internet business up and running quick. If you don’t want to make your own website then I will give you another option in step 4.

3.Personal Training – This is what will really separate the men from the boys (or women from the girls). Personal training on how to get a website up and running is the best use of your time, money and resources. It will cost you $2,000-$5,000 for a worthwhile coach or group of coaches, but the results will pay you back a thousand fold when you finally get your internet business up and running.

4. Outsourcing – Once you have been trained on how to get your small internet business up and running you will have the skills and knowledge to pass along. This could be the most fun part of building your business because now you are able to delegate the mindless, time consuming tasks and focus on the stuff you actually want to do. You can find overseas workers for $2-3 an hr. who will enable you to leverage the benefits of employees without all of the overhead. This is also the place to go if you want to have your website built for you. The most popular place to hire overseas workers is Odesk. Elance is another outsourcing site but it will cost you more for employees.

5.Building Business Credit – Business credit is the most important aspect to starting your new small internet business. Without it you most likely will never get it off the ground. There are more and more business credit building companies out there helping small internet business owners get the funds they need. I used a local company who also took care of my LLC. Most of these programs will offer an LLC at no or little extra charge for joining their programs.

6.Get a Finance Manager – There is no greater sense of relief than having someone taking care of all your finances. It will save you time, money and a lot of aggravation. These programs pay for themselves and are invaluable to small internet business owners who are just getting started.

7.Contracts – If you are a service based business you will want to have contracts drawn up and you might as well get it done right the first time. Just use your newly acquired business credit to pay for it and find the right attorney for the job. It won’t take long and you will look like the consummate professional by having your own. Do not use general contracts that you find free on the internet. It could harm you if you should ever need to go to court and defend it.

So, that is an overview of the main components you will need in order to start a successful small internet business from home. Follow all of them and you could have a successful website up and running in 6 months to a year. Ignore them and you could be in for a big Aspirin bill.
