1. Wait until the end of the summer – just like the vast majority of shops around the country, car dealers will more often than not have an ‘August Bank Holiday’ sale taking place and therefore if you can resist buying a car in July (or even early August) and can wait until the summer is almost over, you’re likely to be able to take advantage of some great offers.

2. Buy after the 20th – if you can buy your car towards the end of the month, do so. The reason behind this is that the later you leave it, the more desperate car salespeople will be to sell you a car so that they can receive their commission bonus that month. 5. Hold out until September – the new car registrations are released twice a year, with the first being in March and the second being in September.
