Choosing Your Types of Sofas For Maximum Comfort and Style

If you are planning to buy new pieces of furniture for your newly remodelled house, it is usually recommended that you start on large pieces first. In the case of the living room, sofas are the first items you can buy because their types and designs will affect the whole look of this part of the house. The sofa is considered as the focal point of the living room not only because it is the largest piece of furniture but because it is the one commonly used in this part of the house. Thus, in choosing sofas, the design and comfort it can provide are the two most important factors to consider. Luckily, there are now several types of sofa to select when searching for the perfect furniture for your new home.

The first type is the traditional sofas which usually measure 6 to 8 feet. This type of sofa is the most simple and can comfortably seat three people at once. A traditional sofa is perfect for houses with medium-sized living rooms because of their length. However, they can also be custom-made to make them longer. The next type is the convertible sofa that can be changed into an extra bed for other guests. New versions of convertible sofas are now equipped with inflatable mattresses to make them more comfortable and durable. Convertible sofas are best used for mini living rooms in the master bedrooms or as furniture for the guest rooms.

Another type of sofa is the loveseat. This looks like a smaller version of traditional sofas and can seat no more than two people. Loveseats are best used for small living rooms or as furniture for the conversation area of a larger room. Loveseats usually come in pairs that are either positioned facing each other or side-by-side. They can also be placed beside larger sofas as wing furniture. The next type of sofa is the divan that looks like a backless loveseat commonly placed against the wall and prepped with pillows. Divans are usually added as accessory furniture and placed beside larger sofas. Another version of a divan is a sofa with a one-sided recline called as a fainting couch. Fainting couches are commonly added to large living rooms with elegant interiors because of their glamour and one-of-a-kind style.

The last two types of sofas are the settee and sectional sofas. Settees are also similar to the loveseat except that they mostly have wooden frames, upholstered seats and open arms. Settees are also commonly used in elegant living rooms because of their classic style. However, they can sometimes be more uncomfortable than a loveseat because their seats are higher and have rigid backs. As for the sectional sofa, they usually measure 9 to 16 feet and are separated into several sections that can be placed on different positions and angles to fit a room. Sectional sofas are best used for large living rooms or for those who have large families who need more seats. Some types of sectional sofas are also equipped with reclining parts.
