Favourite Days Out in Brighton & Hove

Brighton offers so much as a city many visitors come for a weekend and never leave! After London the city of Brighton & Hove is the UK’s most popular tourist destination and being only a short drive from the UK’s major international airports its easy to see why so many visitors flock to Brighton. In this article we’ll explore the best days out in and around the Brighton area.

Brighton Beach

Brighton Beach is probably the biggest draw of this seaside city. During the months of June- September every hot weekend (although we only get a few in England!) will see Brighton beach packed with locals, day visitors down from London, overseas tourists, foreign exchange students and the occasional stag and hen party.

The busiest part of the beach is between the Brighton pier and the Brighton conference centre and this area also has a lot of good beach front bars and restaurants which are as popular as the beach itself.

If you continue West out of Brighton and towards neighbouring Hove you’ll find more space to relax on the beach and a better environment for a family day out with the kids or grandparents.

Brighton Pier

The Pier in Brighton dates back to Victorian times. There were originally 3 piers in Brighton but the only functioning one these days is the Palace pier or Brighton pier as its now known. The West Pier still stands but its now just a shell of a structure having been damaged irreconcilably by fires and the constant pounding of the sea.

The Pier is a great day out for kids as it offers something for all age ranges. Youngsters will enjoy the rides and games at the funfair while older kids are also catered for with a number of larger adult rides and an amusement arcade with hundreds of the latest video games. There’s also a good selection of slots to keep older gamers amused.

Brighton pier is free to get onto and you just pay a price per ride which works out cheaper than a theme park where you each have to pay for an expensive ticket even if nobody rides.

The Brighton Aquarium

The Brighton Aquarium of ‘Sealife Centre’ as it is officially called is another popular day out in brighton. Positioned right in the centre of Town, opposite the pier its easy to get to and being completely undercover means it’s a good all year, all weather attraction. The aquarium is home to hundreds of species of underwater life with displays intended to be child friendly. Try and time your visit around feeding times to get the best value from the day. To save on ticket prices book your entry tickets on the website in advance.

These are just a few of the great days out you can have in and around Brighton & Hove. If you’re looking for a day out, a weekend or longer on the south coast Brighton is a great choice.
