Organising Your First Pallet Delivery

When you are thinking of sending a big package you probably need to start looking for a pallet delivery firm to use. This is definitely the best way of making sure that the package gets received safely and quickly at the location but if it is the first time you are sending a pallet then you may not be very sure about the process involved.

You should bear in mind the following points and try using this process to get everything organised quickly and without any hassle.

1 – Check if the pickup and drop off locations are covered. If you are sending to and from big cities then you shouldn’t have any worries on this score, but more remote places sometimes have to be checked out with the delivery firm in order to get an accurate quote from them, or to check if they can even get there.

2 – Think about how urgent it is. You will generally be given the option of a standard delivery or of an urgent one. The urgent one usually involves same day pick up and next day drop off provided that you order it early enough in the day. The standard method can take around three days or so for the pallet to arrive at its destination. The more urgent delivery obviously costs a bit more but it can be worth it if you really need to get the package dropped off quickly.

3 – Make sure that there is some form of insurance coverage. The vast majority of pallet deliveries get to their final destination with absolutely no problems, but it doesn’t make any sense to save a few pounds by choosing a company which doesn’t fully protect you. If you arrange the pallet delivery online then you just need a few extra seconds to read the most important points about the cover and to make sure that you can send your goods without any worries.

4 – See if you will be able to load the pallet ok. If you don’t have a fork lift truck then you will need to be sure to ask the delivery firm to give you their tail-lift service. There shouldn’t be any extra cost for this but you do have to let them know that it will be needed when you are organising your delivery.

5 – Check if they can give you an empty pallet. Not all firms who deliver pallets will give you an empty one if you don’t have any. Those that do will charge a small fee and making sure on this point before you book is very important.

6 – Make sure that you are happy with the payment methods. Nowadays there is absolutely no excuse for a pallet delivery firm or any other type of service not offering secure online payment methods. A lot of companies now like to pay for everything using their PayPal account, while other still prefer to use their credit card. Either option should be fine if you are booking online.
