6 Steps to Recover From a Failed Relationship

Letting go of any relationship will never be easy. No matter how short it is going to be, you have invested a good amount of time and emotion into it. It is not going to be surprising when you start feeling that the days are becoming a drag and the nights seem to be very long. Many of those who are mending their broken hearts do go through a period of depression.

If it is any consolation, though, there are steps you can take to start the healing process. Here are some of them:

1. Learn to accept it. This is going to be one of the hardest steps: accepting the fate. However, the moment you get through with this, the sooner you can start your healing process. This is also the time when you are going to grieve about it, but as soon as you do not resort to anything harmful, allow yourself to do so.

2. Be with a friend. Many who are in a failed relationship find themselves feeling deserted. This is the best time to surround yourself with your loved ones. Call your friends and family. You do not need to organize a party or attend dinners and lunches. They can just hang around the house, so when you need someone to talk to, you can just approach any one of them.

3. Work. Work is a good therapy during breakups. You can tell your supervisor you are open to handling more challenges. In the meantime, focus your energies and time into what you are doing. Before you know it, you can hardly feel the pain anymore.

4. Go out. You can consider traveling to somewhere far or perhaps volunteering in an organization. Try to meet up new people. You don’t have to be open for another relationship. Just give whatever love you have inside you to those who may need it.

5. Meditate. Breakups can bring a lot of doubts. Did I do something wrong? Am I not good enough? What will happen to me now that I’m alone? How long am I going to feel the pain? These worries can carry a lot stress that can further affect your physical and mental well-being.

Learn to relax and just stay at the moment by doing meditations. This is also good since meditation increases serotonin, which alleviates your mood.

6. Combine these with subliminal messages. Your confidence and trustworthiness can drop to several notches after a breakup. Bring them back up with subliminal messages. You can call them positive statements. You can surround yourself with subliminal messages by reciting the following lines:

I am worthy to be loved by the perfect person.
I still have so much love to share.
I am looking forward to a better tomorrow.
I have given the relationship my best.
I am ready to move on.

You can also put up images of smiling women in your home or car (if you have one). These subliminal messages can improve your mind-set, reducing any negative emotion you may have.
