Many people collect used sport tickets. This is a subset of sports memorabilia collecting. Some people just like to keep the ticket stubs from events they have attended. Older ticket stubs really are, except in special cases, stubs. They are the torn end given back to the fan upon entrance. They may include a rain check in the case of a baseball game. These are just thick paper or cardboard with the date, time and possibly the teams printed on them. In the past twenty years or so a ticket has become a piece of art with photos of players or past events, or actual art work on them along with the basic information. These are no longer torn, but electronically scanned preventing damage to them.

Football is very popular with collectors. People collect the games of their favorite college or National Football League teams. Super Bowls, NFL championship games prior to the advent of the Super Bowl, and college national championship games are very valuable as are college bowl games. Early Super Bowl ducats are worth several hundred to over a thousand dollars apiece.

Other historic football games have become very valuable. A ticket from the 1950 game between Ohio State University and the University of Michigan is one example. Known as the snow bowl, this game is historic because of the blizzard that occurred during the game. This is a major rivalry and the storm made it more memorable. One ticket from this game can sell for several hundred dollars.

World Series baseball games are also very collectible. Major league baseball has been popular for well over a hundred years. The older tickets are extremely rare and valuable. It is very hard to find them from the 1930s or earlier.

Other sports such as soccer, hockey, basketball, golf and the Olympics are also popular. These can all be found at sports collector conventions. They can also all be located on the internet.

Sport tickets collectors are as varied as the sports they are interested in. Some collect events they have attended. Some are trying to relive childhood memories. No matter what the reason, the hobby is fun and possibly profitable.
