Your girl is smoking hot. Sometimes you shake your head in amazement that this amazing woman is yours, all yours. She shows up at your house wearing a dress and you have to catch your breath. Life is good. You can’t believe your good luck in landing such a hottie. There’s just one little, itty, bitty problem.

Everyone else in the world thinks she’s drop-dead gorgeous, as well.

As a result, whenever you go out, all heads turn to look at her. Leave her alone for a second at the bar, and doting men surround her. Leave her at the restaurant table and some smooth talking waiter who looks like Johnny Depp has sidled into your empty seat and is gazing into her eyes reciting poetry.

It’s only been a few months, but it’s about all you can handle.

At first, you tried to keep your cool, but now you flip your lid anytime anyone ogles her. You feel like every male between the ages of 18 and 80 are a threat to you and your relationship.

Frankly, it’s making you sick. The green-eyed monster is destroying you and chipping away at your relationship.

Jealousy is vicious for just a few of the following reasons:

1. It screams insecurity. When you act insecure, you are not attractive, even if you look like Brad Pitt. It takes away anything about you that is attractive. Just like confidence can make up for the biggest physical defects. Even funny looking guys who ooze confidence pull chicks like rock stars.

2. It makes people feel trapped. Women don’t like to feel trapped any more than men do. If you are jealous, then you are essentially restricting the woman’s ability to have free choice and she will shun you for it. If you are nonchalant and act as if nobody else could possibly be a threat, she will want you more. We all want what we seemingly can’t or don’t have.

3. You give her all the power. When you act in a jealous way, you essentially are handing over all the power in a relationship to the woman. She becomes your boss. And you become her, well, you know what, that rhymes with witch.

4. You show you can’t trust. Women wonder how they can trust you when you apparently can’t seem to trust them. Relationships that are mutually satisfying are based on trust between both partners. Show you can trust and therefore she can, as well.
