7 20 4 Cigar

The 7 20 4 Cigars brand was idle for most of forty years. K.A. Kendall decided to bring it back to life in 2009. These are manufactured in Honduras by Tabacos de Oriente and offered in an 1874 series and classic series.

The 7 20 4 cigars are named after the street address of the company that was begun by R.G. Sullivan which was 724 Elm Street in Manchester, New Hampshire. The company had been in business from 1874 until the Cuban tobacco embargo in 1963.

The company then closed its doors and remained closed until K.A. Kendall bought the brand. He had always been a collector of tobacco memorabilia and had purchased any that he could get his hands on. So purchasing the trademark for 7 20 4 cigars just seemed to fall right in line with his collection.

These smokes feature filler tobaccos from Nicaragua, Honduras, Mexico and Columbia. The binder that is made from Costa Rican tobacco is combined to make the extremely wonderful offering that is described as being very flavorful and extremely smooth. The 7 20 4 cigars are finished in a Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper that gives this medium bodied stick its great long lasting burn and taste.

There is a 52,670 square foot seven story building located at 175 Canal Street in Manchester, New Hampshire. It still stands there today. This was R.G. Sullivan’s factory that began in 1920.

It was 1889 when he built his first factory, and he added an addition in 1895. By 1907 the factory employed 400 people and was making around 12 million sticks per year.

Originally they were called Gold Dust ten cents but he later changed the name to 7 20 4 cigars. These smokes were made by hand with pure Havana filler and sported an imported Sumatra wrapper.

Roger G. Sullivan was born in 1851 in Bradford, New Hampshire and his parents were of Irish descent. At the very young age of nineteen he began his business in tobacco with only two employees. It was 1893 when he first became a tobacconist.

Since K.A. Kendall loved all things pertaining to tobacco collectibles, this was an opportunity of a lifetime to bring back to life a brand that had been sitting quietly and tucked away for nearly forty years. This is how he came upon the notion of giving new life to this once very famous and popular brand that was known all over the United States during that period.

Now, thanks to a man who wanted to bring history back to the present day, this wonderful line is once again available for everyone to enjoy. Aficionados all sing the praises of this brand as well as offer accolades for the man who gave the brand back to the world.

Too often when great things just stop being offered, they die and become but a memory. Thanks to a little innovative spirit and a lot of ingenuity, aficionados have this very old and dear friend from the past that has been resurrected. We can only be grateful to this man, K.A. Kendall for wanting to keep history alive.
