Baby\’s Challenge to Moms

For the little child, the feel of the blueberry cake on his fingers are heavenly. Getting to eat something you can also play with is what food becomes for the babies. As such, you will also find them on many of your baby clothes. Even if he\’s freshly don in his punk baby clothes, only you would hesitate to wipe the hands filled with chocolate mousse. It is a wonder how even the cute rock band baby clothes he has can make his palm appear with one swoosh of a hand on them.

And you stare with disbelief. Questions pop on your head as to how are you going to whip up a miracle to get out all those stains from those nice baby clothes, right? Here are a couple of general solutions.

Your first encounter of baby-produced stains would be formula milk, breast milk and spit ups from burping. Aside from the nasty smell of spit ups, they can prove to be a challenging task when doing the laundry. If you have enough time on your hands and someone can hold the baby for you for a while, a fresh spit up or milk drop can be readily removed by warm water. If they have dried up, you can have them soak on warm water then brush it with soft-bristled old toothbrush then treat it later with an enzyme-based cleaner. This is also helpful with diaper leaks and stains.

Another challenging encounter for your would be the open plastic bottle of baby oil that the baby accidentally got hold of. Petroleum jellies as well as diaper rash treatment creams which your husband applied to your child\’s buttocks and the excess cream wiped on baby\’s dirty clothes will prove to be frustrating to remove sometimes. Since these stains are oil-base, you can use talcum powder or cornstarch. These powders will absorb the oil. After fifteen to twenty minutes, scrape the powder off and wash them together with the clothes of the other members of the household.

Mothers would agree with me when I say that the most challenging of all stains to remove would be the fruits, vegetables and juice stains. Because of the difficulty in removing these stains, most of baby\’s clothes are \”marked for life.\” If the stain is still fresh, it is easier to remove by pouring boiling water on them in a basin. However, if such stains have dried up, you can make a solution of one part vinegar and two parts water. Apply this mixture to the spot where the stain is with an unused or clean medicine dropper. Leave it for ten minutes then treat it again with solvent cleaners.

Remember to check baby\’s clothes for the stains that you were trying to remove. If they are still there, treat them once again before finally rinsing and tossing to the dryer. It is a fact that dried stains would be much more difficult to remove once washed and dried up. One thing that one should not forget though is to check the labels of your baby\’s clothes for washing instructions.

Babies will naturally be messy and dirty. That\’s how they learn. The stains they create on their clothes are but part of their exploration of their surroundings and be thankful that they do – this means they are normal, healthy babies.
