Diamond Crown Maximus Cigar Review

Diamond Crown Maximus cigars were introduced in 2003 and have Oliva grown wrappers from Ecuador.

The Churchill #2 has Dominican binder and filler, with the Ecuadorian wrapper. Though it had fine veining in one review, it was solid and probably packed full of tobacco as a tight draw was noticeable.

The main flavor was described as leather, with cream flavor following. Between a third and half way into the smoke, the reviewer noticed a flavor approaching tropical fruit. This vitola has been described as being as good as those made in Cuba.

A cigar smoking reviewer of the Diamond Crown Maximus Pyramid #3, which measures 6 5/8×50 described the wrapper as a colorado maduro with unusual coloring, with a superb aroma. Other reviewers also liked this vitola, with comments about this smoke’s marvelous smoothness and having ash of 2 inches!

The Diamond Crown Maximus Toro #4 had a mite of trouble with burn irregularities, but had a perfect draw throughout the entire smoke in another review. High praise was given for the flavor of the cigar, describing it as so creamy that the first half of the smoke was as if it were butter he was smoking.

Some smokers detected almond hints with tinges of cinnamon around the middle of the smoke. As the finish became immanent, the flavor developed into having spicy notes in an earthy flavor, though it kept some of the creaminess from the beginning.

Another reviewer enjoyed the Diamond Crown Maximus Robusto #5. This is a 5 by 50 vitola which has both binder and filler tobacco from the Dominican Republic, while the wrapper is from Ecuador. The reviewer commented on what a nicely hand rolled cigar it was.

Though some small veining was seen on the dark wrapper, it had an intriguingly earthy taste and smell in a pre-lit draw. The review mentioned sweetness and spice in the first third, coffee, cocoa, and nuts in the second, and more coffee notes in the third, with a finish that was earthy. The burn was described as being slightly uneven, the draw as providing some (but not too much) resistance, and the ash as never falling.

The Diamond Crown Maximus Double Belicoso #10 was described as having a somewhat oily, dark, Ecuadorian wrapper. The reviewer commented on the perfect draw after an easy light with his favorite torch lighter.

The reviewer also enthused about the solid ash and the smooth, creamy smoke from the very beginning. There was some change to the flavor as the smoke progressed.

In the last part of the smoke, the review remarked that early notes of woodiness evolved into a distinctive oak. This reviewer was overwhelmingly positive, and even said that it is one of the best cigars he had smoked all year.

He added that he would choose this as his one and only smoke if the cigar’s price were in his affordability range. Anyone looking for one of these great smokes should be able to ask the owner of a cigar shop for suggestions on which smoke is most likely to appeal to his palate.
