Different Ways to Wear Shawls and Wraps in Formal Events

A lot of ladies believe that shawls and wraps are the best accessories they should have because they can take them to almost every occasion. They can be worn to glam things up or to tone down some effects depending on the situation. Many ladies now have a collection of shawls in varying colors and designs for different occasions. Go to a formal party and you will see that many of the female guests have shawls wrapped around their shoulders. It has really become so popular these days. Unfortunately, since shawls and wraps have become famous, looking unique has become a challenge. It is difficult to stand out in a crowd if all of you are wearing shawls over your shoulders.

The good thing with shawls is that they can be worn in a lot of ways. They do not necessarily have to be just wrapped over the shoulders. Here are some ways of wearing a shawl.

The basic, of course, is to spread wide your shawl and wear it over your shoulders. It protects you from the cold air. It also covers you up if you are wearing a backless gown or one with a low neckline.

A variation of this would be the shawl lightly rolled or loosely gathered along the length and wrapped around you through your back with the two ends freely hanging on each of your forearms.

You can also do the triangular wrap. To do this, you need to spread the wrap wide then put together 2 corners on opposite ends. This should give you a nice triangle. Then wrap this around your shoulders and bring the two free ends to the front. You can simply let the ends hang in front or you can also tie them together. You can also opt to put a pin or a bejeweled brooch.

Another option for you would be to gather the shawl along its length and drape it around your nape with the ends in front of you. This will make things a bit more casual looking. You can style it a bit by creating a loop in front. How high or how low the loop is would vary according to what would make you comfortable. You can also choose to get one end hanging in front and bring it to the back through the opposite shoulder. You can also do this using the two ends. This is if you want both ends hanging at the back. You can even do it in reverse. Drape the shawl around your neck to let the two ends hang at the back. Then get the two ends and bring them to the front through opposite shoulders.

These different ways of using shawls and wraps are very easy to do. You do not need any assistance to get the desired effect. Just a little practice and you will be able to get the perfect look on your own. Since they are easy to do, you can easily shift from one style to another should you find others at the same venue who wore it just as you did.
